Great things to see and good hiking trails are the best feature of the place. Make sure you take the trail that leads to the top of the shale mountain over the lake. You will be breathing hard when you reach the top but the veiw is very much worth the burn!

My family and I recently visited McCall to enjoy the outdoors and we ended up hiking here two days in a row. It's a great place for moderate-length hikes that aren't too strenuous. We covered the entire park in those two days, so it's not a very big place, but it is beautiful. The overlook trail is beautiful when you get to the top, you have a wonderful view of the lake.

We visited this small but beautiful park for a few hours during our Idaho vacation. The park is adjacent to McCall and covers a small peninsula jutting out into Payette lake, and from the entrance ($5 for day use) to the scenic overlook at the very tip of the peninsula it's only about a 15 minute drive. It's well worth a visit since the views are great, hiking and biking trails are plenty and near the visitors center is a small but tidy and clean beach with swimming area. The water was crystal clear and not too cold (definitely 'swimmable') when we visited. We were there in September (2012) and there weren't many other people around.
