We were returning to Salt Lake City with friends after 5 days at the national parks and were looking for a pit stop. Glad we found this little eatery! The menu has many basic items with very imaginative twists which turned the ordinary into an exciting lunch item. I opted for the Hawaiian Hamburger, but held the pineapple, joined by a huge pile of sweet potato fries. My wife and friends thoroughly enjoyed their meals as well. The owner/hostess even brought over what she called "scones", which in an Italian restaurant might be called zeppoles, to apologize for the wait. It seems the grill has been totally occupied with pancakes!....so, you can get breakfast here for lunch, if you'd like. Our server was a sweetheart, very attentive but not intrusive, and on the way to the restrooms they have a map with pins so you can pin your hometown. The were many pins from all over the country, so go here, enjoy the food and hospitality, and pin yourself to the wall! It is a real treat to get away from the chain restaurants and meet some really nice people.

We were totally surprised at the quality of food and service in this cute restaurant in the small town of Malad, Idaho. The salads and sandwiches were not the normal run-of-the-mill fare. My turkey sandwich included a raspberry dressing and the salads were served with very good homemade dressings. Breakfast is served all day in addition to the considerable selection of other delicious dishes. This place was a very pleasant surprise for us in the tiny town of Malad.

We were traveling through the little town of Malad and had no idea of where to eat but saw a billboard advertising this restaurant. We are so glad we ate lunch here! The food was awesome, a cut above and more like you would expect in NYC or LA....very tasty and not just your ordinary menu, including great homemade soups and Idaho "frips" (I think this is the right spelling, a cross between fries and potatoes; yummy!) The restaurant was very clean and the staff extremely friendly, going above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we were well taken care of. We will definitely eat here again if we are ever in the Malad area. I highly recommend this restaurant!

My family of six stopped here on the way to Salt Lake City based on trip advisor recommendations. We were not disappointed. The food was good and the prices were reasonable. Glad we stopped here instead of a chain restaurant.

Best meatloaf I've had since Mom's! My friends and i were out for a ride, and headed north to Idaho to get lottery tickets. We decided to try The Pines Restaurant. It was nice and clean, Kathy (owner) was our server and was so friendly and helpful. Everything we had was delicious, we were so full at the end of our meal, we had to take the peach and berry cobbler to go! And that was wonderful for a midnight snack. Will stop at the Pines each time we are in this area!
