We stayed here for three days in August 9-11. Hotels in West Yellowstone were either booked or three times the price. We got a 2 person cabin and Macks Inn was great about late check in. room was very basic-worn and dated. The bathroom, while clean, was TINY. The mattresses could use some updating. I was a little leery about security as you could easily push the door in or use a credit card to open it. No A/C which was fine as I inquired ahead of time and knew this. The cafe across the river had tremendous service and very good food- I recommend their breakfast burrito. We rented a canoe one day and had a good experience. The help was friendly. If you are looking for an adventure away from Yellowstone, drive to Big Springs and see the Johnny Sack Cabin- about 15 miles away. You can also take a scenic drive to the upper and lower Mesa Falls which was very nice. Overall, we got what we expected. If you are expecting 4 stars with 600 thread count sheets, this sin't what you are looking for. My biggest piece of advice for Macks Inn- replace the mattresses and get additional locks (that work) on the cabin doors.
