We took an extended family trip here with 12 people total. We rented a cabin for 10 and spot in the RV park for the Motor home. The cabin, while rustic, was acceptable. Appliances didn't work very well but there was running water. For the expense, I don't think it was worth it.

The RV park was a different experience. First, we were confronted by the Nazi Park Host who told us we were speeding through the park. Yet there was nothing done about the kids who ran through our site and tripped over the electric cords or the kids who leave their bikes in the middle of the roads so you have to get out of the vehicle to move them. The electrical and water connections were so far away our 50' cord barely reached. I doubt we will ever stay at the RV park again. There are better parks out there, especially the KOA in West Yellowstone.

The hotels in W. Yellowstone were either sold out or very expensive so we stayed at Macks Inn in the units across the highway from the office. It was a very basic, rustic room with two older beds but mattresses were OK. The desk clerk was friendly. The float trip down the river was a lot fun, we took a canoe, the river was clear and you could see lots of fish. I have seen Moose while floating down from Big Springs, but not this time.

We reserved a cabin but when we got there they gave us a room in the motel area. They told us that WE made a mistake but they were the ones that messed up our reservation. We decided to try the room but it was in very bad shape and dirty. My son was playing outside and on of the pillars fell down and almost hit him on the head. We went to the front desk and asked for our money back. After arguing for a while they gave us our money back but they kept the $67.00 dollar deposit. I hope it was worth it because I will tell all my friends and family about the place and their dishonest way of doing business.

....and what it is is a place to stay when you are traveling near Yellowstone. This sprawling complex is a hodge-podge collection of older motel "condominiums" and freestanding cabins, situated next to the freeway and beside a fork of the Snake River,

A lot of people stay in this place each year, and the hard wear shows. That said, rooms were clean, although furnishings were sparse and well worn. The staff was friendly.

Lots of families, lots of family fun.

If you want to get away from people, this place is not for you. If you are traveling through and want a place to spend the night in a part of the country with few accomodatiions, this will work. If you are traveling with a kids, the kids will love playing in the river and running around outside.

We rented a canoe for a river float but did not stay at the inn. We wanted to have a leisurely trip and asked for hourly rental as stated on the website but we were told we could not rent the canoe hourly, but must have it returned within two and a half hours, no exceptions. The first canoe we were given had a leak and had to be replaced. We waited 45 minutes for the new canoe to arrive. Finally upon bringing the canoe back to the dock a small boy (approx. 7 years old) was the only person present to pull our canoe in. The child was standing in a running river up to his chest with no adult supervision other than the customers in the canoe! When we expressed our concern for the boy’s safety to the manager she was rude and told us not to come back if we weren’t happy with the service. We certainly won’t come back which is unfortunate b/c we live in the area.

Our family has never been more disappointed with a motel than Mack's Inn. We rented a cabin there for 2 nights. First of all, it is a 25 min. drive outside Yellowstone. The cabins are old and dilapidated. The shower did not drain properly. The bathroom walls had exposed insulation. When we pulled out the hide-a-bed, there were crumbs and old candy wrappers inside. There was no microwave or t.v. There were no kitchen utensils provided. The cabin across the way had a toilet out on the front porch. All of us, from my 8 yr old to my 41 yr old husband, couldn't wait to leave. Spend a few extra dollars and get a motel close to the park. You won't regret it!

A busy day at Yellowstone Park and all the hotels in West Yellowstone were fully booked so, tired and hungry, we fled into Idaho on Route 20 hoping we would find somewhere to stay. We saw a 'Vacancy' sign at Mack's Inn Resort and stopped there. The lady in reception was very welcoming and helpful (she was also looking after her grandson 'Catfish'!) and upgraded us to the accommodation next to the river, we were warned that it was a 'rustic' resort so no fridge, microwave or tv. After all the hassle and frustration of the day the room was perfect, outside it looks like a cinder block but inside it is all wood beams and cladding, and located right next to a slowly flowing river. There is a gas station nearby as well as a frendly cafe (does takeout pizza) and we got the best nights sleep of our vacation there. We seriously debated staying a couple more nights but sadly we had to keep to our schedule. If we ever return to Idaho will definitely aim to stay at Mack's Inn again.
