This was our fourth tour of Hell's Canyon, the first with SRA. We left exactly on time, our crew
Eric and Ty were great. Eric was very knowledgable and his stories were well told and entertaining. Lunch was OK but similar to the other tour companies. Kirby creek lodge is
nice, we had lunch on the porch. We got to visit with Mike the owner, he is a character.
He piloted the boogie boat, the trip up to the dam was exciting and we got soaked multiple
times. It was a hot day so the water was refreshing and we dried quickly.
Hell's canyon is beautiful and well worth seeing. It was a long and we were exhausted
by the end, but it was a great day and a great adventure.

Jet boat tour of Hells Canyon on the snake river! Totally awesome in the open air boogie boats! They picked us up at our Lodge (Victor and Dawna Hells Canyon Resort), had morning coffee and then a boxed lunch, then up to the Hells Canyon Dam in the most powerful jet boat on the river. The skipper made sure everyone got wet! It was awesome. They provided a little history of the area, but mostly they provided Wet Wild Fun!

We took the half day Jet boat trip and really enjoyed it. Captain Justin and Ty took real good care of us. The river is gorgeous and you stop for lunch a great spot. If you are traveling with older folks, the hike up the hill for lunch may be hard. The site was gorgeous. We stopped and went into the water and it was amazing. Well worth the money. It was five and half hour and I think the time was perfect.

Good ride. They take some effort to keep it a comforable ride without getting pounded around. You WILL GET WET on the Boogie Boat that you ride for the last 37 miles to the dam. You change from a big boat to the boogie boat at lunch.

Did this trip with a couple of friends. You meet up at the Hells Gate State park boat launch. Park there for afternoon shade, I' sure your truck will be an oven when you get back in the afternoon. There is a store there so you can get some coffee, or grab some batteries for the camera. Be on time and try and get there with a few minutes to spare. We left exactly as scheduled in the morning.
The ride up the river is really cool. You go through quite a few different scenic areas. Lots of sheer cliffs, different rocks formations and of course a lot of wildlife if you keep your eyes out. Nate was really good at spotting things of interest and he's got a lot of good local stories both about the land and people and his prior passengers.
We had a smaller party so we took their smaller boat which seats under 20 people. We got to sit in the rear of the boat which was open with no cover. Think it has to be the best seats in the boat if you don't mind the two engines right behind you. Didn't bother us one bit.
The weather was perfect for us. Lots of sun with a few clouds and relatively cool. We may have only seen 80 degrees at the warmest time of day. It was just warm enough to dry you out if you got a little wet from some spray on the rapids. Yes, you may get wet if you sit in certain spots but that is part of the fun.
Food was good, simple breakfast with coffee, OJ and some muffings. We stopped at Cache Creek for breakfast. Then we stopped at Kirby Creek for lunch. Lunch as a boxed meal with fried chicken, sides of salads and other goodies, overall very well done. Both stops there were very nice with open grass areas to walk and stretch. If you're a dog lover then you'll be happy there too. They have some energetic dogs at both stops waiting to greet you at the dock.
They make multiple stops so there really is no need to worry about using the tiny onboard restroom. Drinks are available through the whole ride from the cooler.
Nates daughter does a fantastic job with the service, she's like the stewardess on the boat. She runs back and forth delivering drinks and helping out with the foodstuff.
The ride back down the river is faster. We were lucky and during our trip the water level was relatively high. We got to bounce around through the rapids on the way back and with us sitting in the back of the boat got hit with a couple of rouge waves. It's like doing the wet rides at the local amusement park. Wet and fun!
I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of greenery we saw. I was expecting Hells Canyon to be more desolate and foreboding. I guess it may have to do with the time of year we did this. Probably get a lot more heat down in the canyon as you get into the summer months.
We did the 9 hour trip to Rush Creek. Nate even went a little further up the river than the usual trip so our actual trip took like 10 hours. These guys go out of their way to make sure everyone has a great time.
Hope that is enough info. I don't do a lot of reviews but I wanted to try and throw out more info on here about this trip so people know how great it is. I was a little bit apprehensive by reading some of the older reviews but our experience was nothing but positive.
I would definitely recommend this one!
