“Excellent food in an eclectic atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2011

The Snakebite is one of our favorite lunch spots in downtown Idaho Falls. Lunch menu offers a nice array of sandwiches from traditional burgers to grilled wild salmon, and a lot of choices in between. We have never been disappointed with the preparation and presentation of the food.

They try to use local and natural ingredients to a large degree, but not as consistently as they could. With all the grass-fed beef available in ID, I wish they would switch to a local grass fed product. Of course, they can still make conventional beef taste pretty good, but not quite as good as it could be.

Snakebite has a cozy feel to us. Some might feel cramped as the table space is not huge, but the feeling among the clientele is usually pretty friendly so it still feels comfortable. They usually have some local microbrews on tap so that also helps.

The only complaint we can make is sometimes the service is a little too efficient, professional, and not at all warm. They are usually pretty busy and the servers tend to be abrupt. We go there to enjoy slow food. Maybe the staff should pause to breath the air and smell the roses once in a while.

“The only place i will ever eat in Idaho Falls”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 2, 2010

There are reviews that say this place does not look like much, and or its a little building. I thought the interior was nice and the curb appeal looked good as well. Where this place really knocks your socks off is the food. The Osso Bucco was the best i have ever had. Service was adequate, not great not bad. Good Beer selection. we did not have the chocolate cake, but i feel like every table around us did, so i am assuming it must be good as well.

“Great little restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 20, 2010

I found this place on TripAdvisor and decided to check it out. I was not disappointed, as a matter of fact I went back the next day for lunch as well. I had the Grand Teton burger and the Hoback Chicken both with the house salad and the food was great and homemade. The place fills up quickly for lunch and it is not that big. If you are in Idaho Falls, make it a point to stop by this place, you will not be disappointed.

“One of the best restaurants in Idaho Falls!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 8, 2010

After hearing about The Snakebite for years we finally went with a gift certificate from Restuarants.com. We could only use it on dinner items so we went in the evening and ordered from the wonderful dinner menu. The food was as close to gourmet that you will get in Idaho Falls! The service was wonderful and our waiter couldn't have been more on top of everything. My sister came into town the next week and I took her there for lunch. We ordered a hamburger and some pasta to share between the two of us. So good!!! The service wasn't as good and the atmosphere wasn't as nice as at night but still worth the visit. I would definetly give The Snakebite a try. It is my new favorite restuarant!

“Sidewalk tables perfect on a hot day”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 15, 2010

As first-time visitors to Idaho Falls, we asked staff at the museum we'd been visiting to recommend somewhere for lunch. Thank heavens for local knowledge. This is a funky little restaurant on a corner in the historic downtown district. It was a hot day, so we appreciated being able to sit at a shady table on the sidewalk. The menu has the sort of items you might expect on offer at lunchtime -- burgers, sandwiches, pasta and salads -- but they include some unusual ingredients that make each dish an original. We opted for salads, both very tasty.

In case you're wondering about the quirky name, it's a bit of a pun, I assume: a bite to eat just a couple of blocks from the Snake River that flows through town. Stroll over after your meal and enjoy the scenic greenbelt walkway.
