“Room needed cleaning.”
Reviewed September 10, 2009

We stayed at the Guesthouse Inn on the banks of the Snake River in Idaho. Location was very nice, as you could walk along the banks of the river and see the falls. However, the room was a different matter. There were ants in the bathroom as well as mold. The carpets were worn and the hotel was in need of some updates. We were looking forward to swimming in the pool after driving for several hours, but when we got there, the pool was dirty!

When I walked into the hotel I was greeted by a very musty odor . The odor permeated throughout the public areas that I entered. Luckily, my room was odor free. However, the odor and the overall upkeep of the public areas made me a little nervous about the cleanliness of my room. The hall carpets were faded and, worn, and torn in some parts. Actually, the carpet outside my door was torn to the point of being dangerous for little ones or elderly persons. It would have been easy to catch a cane or walker on the carpet. The room I had seemed very dark and drab--not at all cheery. The bath towels were well past their prime. I ate in the on-site restaurant, and was appalled when I was seated at a table that had a dirty table cloth! There was a ring of coffee (damp) from a mug, and other food stains. I really tink they should change the table cloths after each guest. On a positive note, the staff was very pleasant, and the breakfast offered in the restaurant was very good. The high speed internet was complimentary (a bonus). It is an older property, so the room size was not what I was expecting for a property with suites--and there was no fridge.

I stopped in for a billboard rate of $59. I ended up paying 65.00 because there were two of us. Fine hotel. Location is perfect to walk along the river. The free sit-down breakfast with a waitress was different from other hotels. Our king room looked new. I really liked the refridgerator and microwave. Internet signal could be stronger.

Traveled for many years, this was the worst experience ever. Horrible staff, rooms smelled so bad, my wife made us check out a day early. There were no rooms in town, she said she would rather sleep in the car with my 2 children. They should offer 'Smoking or Chain Smoking' The room across the hall was partying all night and I guess they have a lounge, and on a Friday night they are allowed to make noise all night in the hallway. Had to call for towels, I guess they are not standard. They should offer ointment for the scabies. Normally I don't say anything, but I had to somehow warn others. btw- the breakfast is a joke, one coupon per room and the portions are smaller than any kids meals.

I drove by a sign on my way to Idaho Falls that said they had a room for 59.99 a night so i decided to stop and see, sure enough they did. Not only was it$59 but I also got a breakfast bisuits and gravy yumm they even have a lounge that was open pretty late. Overall I had a great stay at the Guest House Inn. Im guessing that form all the past reviews they have done a lot of renovation. The rooms were clean and looked new. The only down side is that they are in the process of more renovations so that means less rooms.

This was the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed at. The bedspreads had oil stains, the carpet was extremely dirty and old. The carpet also had white stains that obviously were overlooked by housekeeping. There was no shampoo provided for the $75 a night! The walls are thin and you can hear everything. No elevator which means you have to lug your suitcases up the stairs. The hallway carpets are also dirty. The carpets are so dirty and old they are probably the original carpet installed when the place was built. The service from one night person was terrible. She was rude and obnoxious to guests. Some guy booked a room on the internet and he was told too bad.. they were full and his reservation meant NOTHING! The breakfast wasn't very good either. Plus you don't get your meal ticket until the morning then you have to go to the front desk and beg for one. I switched rooms to the corporate suite..the only difference was the comforter was floral and the TV was in an entertainment center. Same dirt and filth as the room before. Then when you complain they act surprised like they have no idea that there is a dirty room out there! They know their place is a dump they just play dumb.

When we entered the room, we were immediately hit by the smell of wet dog. Later, it turned out the smell was coming from one of the bedspreads. The windows didn't open and the AC didn't work, so we got to stew all night in a fetid, airless room. Bathroom was mildewy and a little slimy. Wireless internet was free, but access was intermittent and the connection was slow. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

  • Liked — The internet access, even though it wasn't great.
  • Disliked — The smell.
