The good thing is it is situated half way between yellowstone national park and salt lake city and therefore acts as a pit stop. Also the hotel was built spaciously. But it seems to have fallen into disrepair. It looks old from lack of renovation. It was not clean. The buffet breakfast was horrible.

Dear apalaghua,

We appreciate you taking the time to write some comments regarding your recent stay at Shilo Inns Idaho Falls. The hotel does have a great location, lining the beautiful Snake River and is convenient for travelers heading to and from wonderful Yellowstone National Park. I apologize that your stay at the hotel did not meet your expectations. We are currently working to upgrade the facilities and making positive changes to appease all our guests. I would like to welcome you back next time you travel through Idaho Falls for a far better experience.

Warm Regards

We recently stayed here for a family function. We found the rooms were very large with comfortable beds. Could not have asked for more in a room. It is in a wonderful location in walking distance to the falls. The pool is a full size pool -6ft deep with a large hot tub sauna and steam room. There is an onsite restaurant and very busy bar. We happened to be there during Beerfeast so there was TONS of drunk people wondering the halls and being a bit obnoxious. The staff did a wonderful job keeping them controlled and did their best to clean up behind them. Would differently stay at this hotel again when in the area.

With family in Idaho Falls I stay at the Shilo several times a year. My last visit in April, 2013 was disappointing. The reasons I have always liked the Shilo are the rooms are quite spacious with sitting area, refrigerator, 2 sinks, coffee maker, breakfast included, reasonable room price, good location on the river and airport shuttle -- lots of good reasons!

This trip was disappointment as the place was looking very run down. The room was ok, but common areas looked very worn and the airport shuttle was simply filthy - inside and out...not a good start to a hotel stay. Even though the breakfast is included, it has always been a very poor, small, not fresh looking buffet. I will probably give Shilo another try because of all the "good things", but if doesn't seem cleaner and better kept up next time, that will probably be my last time. There are lots of nice, newer properties popping up in IF. It will be sad to leave the Shilo though.

Room Tip: Nice to have a river view room although a few dollars more in cost. Rooms are in very long hallways. If do not want a lot of walking, ask for one near one of the entrances, or near the lobby and restaurants.

Although dated, it could be better if they were better organized. I have stayed at many Shilo
locations over the years (this one for 6 years). The quality of the facillty is becoming marginal.

Last visit - Noticed on the way to breakfast the hallway was littered with broken glass wine glasses. It was reported to the front desk but 6 hours later was still present. Hazardous!
The breakfast for 3 days had no cold cereal, milk or fruit available. Not too much to ask?

Our stay was okay. Staff was very friendly. The hotel is old and showing its age. You can tell the effort is there to make it nice but it's still a very old facility. Not too bad for the price. Definitely not a 3 star hotel.
