I can't think of a better way to spend an afternoon in Laura, Grenada than enjoying a fun, informative tour of the island's best botanical garden with enthusiastic owner and tour guide, Lawrence Lambert. Lawrence has spent over a decade building his garden with a variety of flowers and plants from the Caribbean and all over the world. Don't be afraid to ask any questions while on the tour - he has an amusing story for each plant! I took the tour as part of a group of about 15 people (including small children) and we were charmed and amused. If, like me, you wanted to spend more time on these beautiful grounds, ask Lawrence about the lovely Airbnb he runs on the property - a perfect tropical escape in beautiful surroundings, breath-taking views, and a constant cooling breeze.

Had a wonderful tour, the guy that showed us around was friendly and knowledgeable and the place is stunning! It's genuinely quite hard to put into words how beautiful it is! Not to mention the variety of plants plus the wildlife makes it a great experience! It's also quite cool with the breeze rolling in from the Atlantic plus the views are incredible over the island and the sea!

Palm Tree Botanical Gardens is a favorite place for my family to visit while on the island of Grenada. The gardens are filled with a comprehensive collection of tropical flora. The owner Lawrence Lambert Hestel has an extensive knowledge of all the flora on his well-maintained 2-acre property, which is located on the cooler hillsides of the island & overlooks the ocean. Taking a guided tour is definitely recommended to learn not only the names, but also the history and characteristics of many of the plants. It is a photographer & plant lover's paradise. The walk-ways of the gardens are well maintained, with signage that shows both the latin & common names of the plants. The gardens are filled with a wide variety of bromelids, cycads, orchids, palm trees, and many different species of flowers. Red footed-tortoise live on the property, turtles in the ponds, there is a museum display case with Arawak artifacts found on the island, a plant nursery for people who may wish to purchase certain species to take home, space for catered events (like weddings), and a cottage & apartment available to rent for anyone wishing a longer stay than a day-tour. Multiple visits at different times of the year recommended as different flowers are in bloom depending on the season. Highly recommended activity.

We spent a beautiful afternoon, savoring the smells and colors at Palm Tree Gardens. This was supposed to be a quick stop but it turned out to be a highlight. Mr. Lambert has turned his passion into a piece of heaven. Even our teenage boys had a great time.

Lawrence was an excellent guide at this lovely hilltop garden. It's a great place to visit with fabulous views over the interior rainforest. The plants are all documented and Lawrence has a interesting story about each one. Didn't see any hummingbirds or butterflies unfortunately but we visited in July so maybe it wasn't the right time for them. Recommended.
