Ca' del Moro Foresteria
Ranked #26 of 33 Hotels in Lido di Venezia
Reviewed May 28, 2012 via mobile

We stayed here for 3 nights.
Really enjoyed the stay, but remember its not a 5* hotel.
Rooms are light and bright, we had a nice balcony, with view over tennis courts, a sun trap. Shower room is clean and has all you need including shower gel, soap, shampoo and soap. Hair dryer and ample towels. TV is no point, as only news Chanel, but you don't go to Venice to watch tv.
Beds were comfiest, and clean. Duvets had seen better days. All the filling had moved to corners, but it was warm enough not to be a problem, but beware if you go in winter. My only small gripe was there was only one plug socket behind a wardrobe, so hard to charge anything.

The grounds are really nice, with little lizards sunning themselves. The pool wasn't opening til 1/6, as weather had been poor, but it looked a nice size. Little restaurant and bar was great for a snack, and drink.

All the staff where really helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Note though they did struggle for change, so try to take small denomination. Wifi is 5 euros for 1 hour, and signal a little week, but you can use the time in segments, so an hour lasted me 4 days.
We were in block B so didn't meet night watchman.

Breakfasts were ok, plenty of choice of various continental options. Notice board gives daily weather, info re travel cards etc. vending machine with drinks and snacks/sweets available, but take 1 euro coins.

Mini bus runs up til 10.30am for free transit into the town. Otherwise it's the bus, which takes about 20 mins, but can get very busy. Paid about 10 euros for a taxi. Buses and ferries run frequently during the day, and night service runs half hourly. Ferries also get packed, but run constantly. You need to allow an hour door to door from hotel to St Marks Square. It's about 2 mins walk from hotel to bus stop. You can also hire bikes.

Plenty of places to eat in town centre, but no where really close. Supermarket, shops, chemist, and bars there too, just opposite ferry stop.

If you are looking for a quiet, cheap base in Venice this is a great option.

We stayed at this hotel at the end of october 2011, for 2 nights, and it was just perfect. We loved the breakfast (a lot of food and a lot of choices). The room was nice, big beds, not noisy... just what we wanted. (probably the tv was too small...but...who goes to Venice to watch TV? ).

Room Tip: We were facing the courtyard and it was ok.

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel. The rooms are basic and clean but vary in size and amenities. The best part of our room was the balcony. It is quiet and has a decent breakfast. The staff is horrible (especially at night). The man on night duty was rude to all who asked a question. I wanted to use the internet, and he told me he would not give out any more passwords because too many people wanted to use it. I heard another couple ask where they could purchase wine or some other drink and he started yelling at them for expecting it at the hotel (there is no alcohol because it is a sport facility...or so "Mr. Sunshine" said). Someone else asked for towels for the room and he said he could not get towels for them because he was working at night. These are just a few examples. You will also lose time in travel to this hotel. This was my fourth time to Venice and while I normally stay in Venice, I was with a larger group and this hotel was booked by the travel company. I would not stay here again.

I visited Venice 3 years ago with a friend and we stayed in one of the "great location" hotels that was close to everything, however, I would say that it definitely lacked in quality. This hotel, while not right in the main part of Venice, actually gives you the vacation feel and is definitely a GREAT bargain. Clean, updated, quiet, and completely friendly staff, I would recommend this hotel for anyone, especially if you like sports or being near a beach!

The walk to the bus station from the hotel only took us 3-5 minutes and from there, it takes about 10 minutes to get to the water bus station, and then another 8-10 minutes to get to main attractions. While it wasn't right "in" Venice, my husband and I are in our early 20s and we loved the fact that we weren't smashed in a hotel in a dark alley (like a LOT of the ones in this price range are) and we could actually watch sunsets, take strolls, and casually make our way in and out of Venice without having to be in a super congested area all the time.

PROS: free breakfast, free shuttle to the main water bus station on Lido, tennis courts, football (soccer) fields, swimming pool, onsite restaurant with delicious food, room service, vending machines

CONS: WIFI in lobby only - cost 1 euro per hour, very limited English speaking television stations in room

This is a very clean contemporary looking sports complex. For me, there was no ambiance as I personally prefer a quaint little B&B over this type of stay. He chose it, not me. However, if one is really into tennis, there could be an attraction here. We stayed here for 3 nights while visiting Venice. The breakfast buffet was excellent with many choices. The food in the restaurant was just ok, nothing to get excited about. We did enjoy traveling on the water bus back and forth. This hotel was very difficult to find and we spent a long time trying to figure how to get there. Fortunately we ran across another guest of the hotel who was able to direct us. We had to catch a local bus which took us reasonably close to the facility but we still had a pretty long walk from the bus stop. This is true for each time that one returns to the island. I might add that once we were settled in, the hotel has a shuttle which took us from the hotel to the town center and water bus stop. We still had to use the city bus for the return trip back to the hotel. The staff was very courteous and helpful. We chose to stay on Lido because we found it to be more economical than staying in Venice.

We found the hotel very good value for money, and it gave us a chance to spend longer in Venice than the usual weekend break. Our room was clean and comfortable with a balcony overlooking the tennis courts. It was extremely quiet at night, which allowed for a good night's sleep. The breakfast was plentiful,.. you could help yourself to as much as you wanted. The hotel offered a minibus service to the town in the mornings, though the buses were very frequent day and night. We ate in the hotel restaurant several nights, as we were tired from our days exploring Venice, and thoroughly enjoyed our meals there. We found the staff helpful and friendly. The Internet access in the hotel lobby was useful and inexpensive. My one disappointment was that we stayed during the first week in October, and the lovely swimming pool was closed from the end of September.
