The cabana's are gone, the beach sand is dredged-up and the people, naturally, are gone as well. Conclusion: avoid in off-season

Walked to the beach from hotel, unfortunately a foggy day but really got the feel for the beach still. Clean and with a pizzeria etc on the front.

Just 15 minutes from St. Marks Square is the island of Lido de Jesolo. I have been to Venice several times before and wanted to visit here. Get off the water bus and go straight across the centre of the island. It takes about 7 minutes to walk this passing some shops, rather grand hotels and a couple of restaurants. Once you cross the main road before you get to the beach is a painted concreted wel l kept area ( free from graffiti ) with an ice cream shop, affordable bar and restaurants. We went in late September and all was open. The beach is clean, well kept and for a warm day ( sun tanning weather ) was relatively empty. A raised platform from the buildings to the sea is there but this is closed on our visit. Public toilets have to be paid for. I don't think they were more than a Euro. A stroll along the sea along the private beaches was a pleasant experience , the beach huts all closed with a backdrop of some great hotels. Oddly enough it was the public beach that was the cleanest.Do check the bus timetable if you want to come back late in the evening!

We were very disappointed with the beach. It was the end of the tourist season/summer season when we visited but we were fairly disgusted with the state of the place. Litter all over, grubby and boarded up - no wonder we were the only people we saw there and anyone else we'd seen in the vicinity was making a sharp exit. Not a great asset for the Lido. Needs millions spending on it and a darn good cleanup would go a long way to making it a useable resource.

Really nice to pop out of the heat and hustle of Venice for the day (if you're staying there a few days). There are toilets and showers to use for a fee, but it's only one euro and worth it. The beach is busy so go early during peak times if you want to rent a bed/umbrella. Plenty of sellers walking around with stalls/ice buckets selling beer water and snacks. Water is very warm and there are lifeguards present. Only about a 20 minute boat ride from st mark's square. Lots of nice restaurants on Lido too.
