“Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014

Great isola! Nice restaurants and many glass blowing demonstrations everywhere. The factories close around 4pm but shops are open later. We found one that offered a mosaic or beading workshop for kids for 10€. Unfortunately, I can't remember the name ... Exit the vaporetto at Faro (Murano) and follow the canal to your right, turning. Eventually, to your left, there will be an entrance to a factory and beautiful gallery, the name starts with a C. You have to ask for the demonstrations and workshops. They finish workshops at 3 pm. Hope you can find it!

“Murano is worth a visit.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2014

Nothing too special about Murano other than the many glass factories you can visit and see demonstrations. The glass art is amazing. Many glass shops to select gifts. We enjoyed watching the glass blowing and looking in the high end shops. Beautiful.

“Go to Burano first”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2014

It is lovely, and watching the experts create glass ornaments is fascinating. However, you do not need much time there, once you have seen the museum and the glass blowers, it is just shops - which sell glass!

“Lovely island not just for the glass”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2014

Murano is a pretty little island in its own right but the amazing glass shops make it the most famous reason to visit. The main canal street down the centre is very picturesque.

We visited the island on a 24 hour ticket from Venice, stopping off at Burano on the way which made an excellent tour for 20 euros.

“An island of Glass makers”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2014

A little touristy. Took the trip for Murano, Burano and Torcello. They take you to a glass making factory where there is a demonstration of how they make the figures. Then you have some time to roam about. Definitely an experience if you have not seen how they make the glass figures from liquid glass.
