My siblings and I organised a trip for our parents to Venice with a 4 night stay at Villa Casanova, and they were more than helpful in organising the stay and charging us rather than my parents upon arrival.

I had stayed in the hotel a few years ago and had a wonderful holiday. The rooms are very comfortable and the breakfast is lovely. Also they have a great supply of bikes that they lend you free of charge, and as the Lido is so flat is it a really pleasent ride arond the island which has fab beaches and fantastic views.

I would highly recommend this as a great base for exploring Venice, as you are away from the tourist madness but close enough to access everything in just a short boat ride.

Villa Casanova was definitely not bad but average at best. We booked on account of all the gushing reviews and were really surprised by what we found.

The positives:

-the location, much cheaper food & less hectic than staying in Venice. Beautiful little island. Only 15minutes on the water bus to st marks. Not for those who like to be in the thick of the action though
-great buffet breakfast with a large selection of savoury options which was a great find in Italy
-Marina & Alessandro were always very polite
-clean rooms
-10% discount for cash payment

The negatives:
-terribly uncomfortable mattresses (two singles pushed together, not zipped). Alessandro tried to help by putting a blanket over the mattress but unfortunately made very little difference. If we were staying longer we would have had to look for somewhere else to stay based on this alone
-really unreliable wifi connection, drops in & out frequently
-wet dirty towels put on the floor to be changed are re-hung
-the website advertises as refurbished but only re-painted. The decor & furniture is very tired & worn, circa 1990.
-badly not sound proof, you hear everything from the corridors & a lot from the room next door
-lacking the personal touch of a true b&b. We found this to be more like a pensione, given the large number of rooms and the business like approach to interactions with staff particularly at check in.

We stayed at Villa Casanova for 3 days at the end of a cruise. Allessandro was extremely helpful in helping us find our way around and tips on navigating the water taxis. He also helped us book a room at a different hotel near the airport for the night before our flight home to the U.S. Our only negative was that the bed was a bit squeaky and the mattress a bit lumpy. But after traipsing around Venice all day we hardly noticed! Allessandro's continental breakfast is wonderful - especially his made to order espressos and cappuccinos. Lido is a great location from which to enjoy the city. We enjoyed our stay and will return.

Villa Casanova is the most memorable accommodation when I travelled in Italy for 12 days. The staff always tell me patiently about Venice's info in detail. Thanks for Marina and Alessandro, I really miss your breakfast and hand made cafe, the best one of hotel cafe I've ever tasted.

We had travel for 10 days at Italy and Venice was one of our stop. I have read many good reviews about Villa Casanova and during our stay, I totally agree with these comments. Firs of all Lido, island was perfect it self. Also you can have free bcycles from Casanova and make a tour on island. here is a villa, so rooms don't have much sound proof. But it was no problem for us. staying at villa covers this. We had only one regret that we had to stay only 2 nights at Lido in our tour program. But will definitely turn back here..By the way, breakfast was so delicious here, still we remember the mozeralla & tomato in the breakfast.

Thia is a fabulous homely B&B on the Lido. It is a five minute walk to the water taxis where you can get across to Venice in approx 10 mins. Our room was modern /spacious with ensuite bathroom. The breakfasts were as good as you would get in a 5* hotel. Our host Alessandro gave us all the information we needed for getting around and helped to make our trip to Venice one we will remember for a long time.

Room Tip: We had room 11 which was on the side and quiet.

This was our third time at the Villa and, as on the previous two occasions, Alessandro made us very welcome. Apart from the convenience of being able to park your car without paying through the nose, the Villa Casanova provides a top-notch breakfast, sufficiently spacious accommodation, free wifi and an on-hand tourist information office in the shape of Alessandro.
Some travellers might be put off by the fact that the villa is located on the Lido, but we find it offers the possibility to wind down after the hustle and bustle of old-town Venice.
Value for money wise the Villa is excellent and it is such a pleasure not to have the feeling of being ripped off but rather to enjoy the company of a charming host.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good.
