“This is a great place to stay when visiting the Venice area”
Reviewed October 24, 2012

We booked this hotel after noticing favorable comments from other reviewers and found the positive views to be very accurate. The hotel itself is a charming and beautiful re-purposed home. Its unique outside appearance made it very easy to find, and it is just a short and easy walk from public transportation. The staff was friendly and helpful, the breakfast room was elegant, and the breakfast itself was lovely. The rooms were small, simple, but very clean (ours was one of the least expensive rooms.) The only reason I didn't give this hotel a five star rating (which I think it deserves for value alone) is because the showers are quite small. Ours was OK but our friend's room next door had a shower that my "full-sized" husband would have had trouble fitting in. The hotel had an extra bonus if you were willing to climb some fairly steep stairs: the rooftop view was fantastic. The area surrounding the hotel was pleasant, felt safe, and offered a nice variety of restaurants. Transportation to Venice was simple and convenient, both from the airport (alilaguna is easiest, vaporetto is cheapest, water taxi is expensive) and to various Venice locations (15 to 20 minutes to San Marco). This hotel is a real value for the money, and I definitely would recommend it.

This was a great hotel. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We really appreciated the excellent service. The room we book originally was not available the first night, but the front desk made up for it by offering us a discount on a different room. The room we received was very adequate; I believe it was a family room, as it had two bedrooms and could sleep four. It was more than enough space for us, only being two! The room and bathroom was also very clean! This is the most important thing for me, and I felt very comfortable here. The second night, we didn't feel like coming back to Lido to switch into the originally booked room because we planned to be out all day. The staff understood, and extended the discount on the other room, and that stay. That was very appreciated. I was also given free wi-fi for the inconvenience. It was really wonderful to have this service, because as all you holiday travelers know, you put a lot of effort and excitement into planning a holiday! So, to have the staff go above and beyond to correct a mistake was simply great. Breakfast was also included and was more than adequate; baked goods, sliced meats and cheese, yogurt, cereal...normal offerings, but we really liked the quaint breakfast room. I would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends. Lido is a wonderful place, and the vaporetto station is literally a 2 minute walk from the hotel, and then the ride is only about 15 minutes to Piazza San Marco. Also, if you were to want to get out of the hustle and bustle at night for some R&R, Lido really offers a great get-away. Thank you, Villa Delle Palme!!

We booked this last minute as we wanted an extra night and the other hotel we were in (4 star) was booked. It was a pleasant surprise. Location is only a couple of blocks from the convenient water taxi terminal. Staff were extremely welcoming and helpful! The hotel and room were spotless and nicely decorated. The breakfast was very good with lots of selection (including a hot, freshly made cappucino). I would definitely stay here again.

There were two people we interacted with. I remember the name Christian from another review made and then there was an evening person (young gentleman). Both were very friendly and helpful. The evening person went out of his way when I mentioned a problem flushing toilet. He did not give up until it was fixed. In fact he went so far as to go to another hotel for the tiniest of screwdrivers in order to reattach the chain behind the wall. No apathy here. Breakfast was continental and more than adequate. Must have been a 20 foot ceiling in room with air-conditioning, the latter being very important for me. Quiet, conveniently close to vaporetto (water-bus) to main island, etc. All this and reasonably priced as well.

Room Tip: We were on the ground level. I'm assuming all were decorated in similar Venetian style. Perfectl...

Us three gals were trying to save some money so we stayed at Lido instead of the heart of Venice. The things that stood out for me were the staff - particularly Cristiano who greeted us with enthusiasm and passion - a true Italian. He made us feel like we were royalty and had such a personable and fun attitude. He insisted we stay for some of his excellent Italian coffee, (which it was) before we headed out to the heart of Venice. He took us up to the roof of the hotel to show us the gorgeous view of Lido. It was a wonderful introduction to Venice.

The only downside, I would say, is that, to save money, we stayed on the bottom floor where it was quite dark. It must have been their basement, so no view or anything. But we didn't really care because we weren't planning to spend any time there, except to sleep, because it wasn't the part of Venice we had come to see. But it was very clean and I was very impressed with how many gluten-free items there were for me to eat at the continental breakfast. The breakfast room was lovely and the staff were very kind and helpful. The grounds are also very nice and there are chairs set up to visit outside. But for me, Cristiano was the one who made it so memorable.

Just as a side note, When you arrive in Venice, it's a little hairy because there are boats and ferries going every which way imaginable. But the hotel does send you directions and tells you which boat to take in an email before you come.

Just returned from a 5 night stay at the Villa delle Palme which we really enjoyed. I would endorse most of the positive comments made by previous contributors. It is located in a quiet side street - about five minutes walk to the vaporetto terminal in Lido. Staff were pleasant and very helpful - making some excellent suggestions for restaurants both locally and in the centre of Venice. (Trattoria Africa just across the canal at the bottom of the street was particularly good).
The only niggles were 1) a tv set which couldn't receive the main local station RAI1 on which the Euro football games were screened and 2) the smallest shower cubicle I have ever seen in a hotel anywhere. In a fairly small bathroom a bidet is not really necessary - but a decent sized shower is !

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Delle Palme. We stayed 3 nights in May 2012. The grounds were well kept and the hotel was clean. The hotel is on a quiet street and we enjoyed the aroma of the roses growing up and down the street. The staff was very helpful and informative. I thought the hotel was a good value for the price. There was a nice selection of breakfast foods each morning. The only down point is that the shower is really small. We loved the peacefulness of Lido Island and found the shops and restaurants to be charming. I would highly recommend Hotel Delle Palme!

Room Tip: the rooms with the balconies are nice so you can enjoy the fresh air at night
