“Little Jewel on Lido”

A recommend by a third party and seven of us met up her from 9/27 - 9/30/07. Our trio shard a triple. Only downside was the hard bed that dropped on hinges from the wall. A bit low to the floor which made for difficulty getting off of it. Otherwise the place was very clean and the proprietor and other staff were very friendly and helpful. Location is great and gets you away from the noise and crowds of Venice. Short ride on the ferry to Venice, Murano and Burano and other islands. Lots to do. For families there is an arcade just a short walk down the street, close to the Adriatic beach, bicycle rentals are available, horse drawn carriage rides, good food and shopping. Just a fun place to be. Seemed to be very family friendly. The hotel serves probably the best breakfast of the seven places we stayed at over 12 days. Fresh juice, great coffee, croissants, bread, cheese, proscuitto, yogurt - in a very nice breakfast room. Can't say enough about the Hotel Cristallo, and definitely recommend it as it was great value for the money.

I was nervous about the hotel because the price was really good for Venice/Lido but there was no need to worry: The room was clean. Our bathroom clearly recently renovated. Great location near lots of shops and restaurants. It is wonderful to stay in Lido and get away from the Venice crowds at the end of the day. This is the perfect hotel if you are looking for a really nice super clean hotel at a great price. The breakfasts are great! The staff are friendly and efficient and their English is excellent.

Traveling with our own car, we found the Cristallo the best choise we could made. Also based on the reviews from other quests. It was no problem to find the ferry that was bringing us with our car to the Lido. After arriving on the Lido it was a only 3 minutes drive to the hotel. There was a place in the garage for us, so we didn't have to worry about the car and all the Italiaan treasures we collected untill that time. The staffmember at the frontdesk was very informative. We had a nice room that was very clean. The bathroom was a little bit small, but everything we needed was there. The location of the hotel is good. In a couple of minutes walking there is the vaporetto. The waterbus brings you in about 15 minutes to town. We bought a 3 day card for 30 euro and could catch every boat we wanted. It was very nice to come back at the Lido after a day full of sightseeing in Venice.
Tip. Don't stay to long at San Marco or Rialto. Make walkings trough the city, and you will find a quiet Venice without the crowds.
Tip. Just have a look at the famous café Florian at San Marco. But do not buy an espresso on the terasse. We had to pay 22 euro for 2 espresso's, including the music!

Three of us including a teenager stayed at Cristallo for two nights and found previous reviews reasonably accurate. The accommodation, whilst no frills two star, was clean and roomy; the staff extremely helpful and the breakfast very good. However prospective guests should note the additional cost of ferrying back and forward to the mainland of Venice, unless of course you choose to stay out on the Lido. The vaporetti water buses are not cheap especially for a family. At our time of staying the water bus would have cost 36 Euro for a return trip for three from the Lido to say San Marco. There are 24 hour and 48 hour deals but still not cheap. There is something of a faded grandeur verging on seaside tackiness about the Lido itself though aspects of this may appeal to kids. If you really want to visit the beach then make use of Cristallo's private beach cabin, but note that the hotel itself is not adjacent to the sea.

Booked with hotel itself having stayed here before, better prices and room a/v. Room 33 is good with 3 windows out to the front no noise. There a plenty of places to eat within short walk of the hotel, all good food and value.

Hotel breakfast good, eggs which my husband likes and usual continental stuff with good coffee.

Supermarket opposite for drinks etc

We have fpound the Lido a fab place to stay and a couple of hours on the beach makes a welcome for tired feet. 10 mins on the water bus to st marks and a fab view all the way.

Less than 5 mins walk to vaporetti stop.

All in all, good value, clean, helpful and going back next week for 3rd time!

I loved staying on Lido and would recommend it to all my friends. It's nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of Venice, and Lido has a very authentic feel to it, with many locals. The vaporetto takes off frequently, and if riding the #1 down the Grand Canal, it's the beginning of the line, so you can get a great seat outside.
The hotel was clean, the room was big, and the front desk was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was one of the best I had on my stay in Italy.

  • Liked — price
  • Disliked — Little noisy at night if people were walking down the street - only happened once though.
