This was our first trip to Venice, so didn't have a clue about getting around, etc. We flew into Treviso with Ryanair and booked the coach transfer beforehand from the airport to the main bus station in Venice (Maestre), the journey from the airport, which was in the evening only took about 40 minutes. As you come out of the bus station there is a ticket office where you can purchase your waterbus pass to cover the time you are Venice. The timetable system is similar to the London tube, easy to understand with frequent waterbuses (Vaporetti). We took the Vaporetti to the Lido and then walked from the stop on the Lido to the Hotel Rigel, literally a couple of streets away. The Hotel is clean and basic with a good continental breakfast, lots of choice including, tea, coffee, capacino, etc..

The hotel has local bars and restaurants, overall we found this to be the perfect place to stay and hop around Venice and adjoining islands - Burano took around 40 minutes on the Vaportetti direct from the Lido and is well worth a visit for a couple of hours.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in September prior to a cruise.
The hotel was chosen mainly for price and location.
We were not disappointed in any way. We have stayed in 3star hotels in Venice and you do not expect very much. This was a delightful surprise the balcony was a lovely extra the view from it was really nice.
The breakfast was better than most 4 star with a lovely seating area.
The staff were very helpful and polite.
We will definitely go back.

Room Tip: We got a deal on a superior room

Wanted to like this hotel, it had a quaint hang out lounge dowstairs with comfy seats and a nice quiet bar. It was all very simple on the outside.
But they stuffed up our accommodation. We had two rooms for two couples and we had the confirmation of the booking and it had been double checked before we arrived. We got there and they had no record
They put us up for one night then moved all four of us to a single room at a crappy hotel down the road. Very unhappy about this

The room was tiny. No room to fully undo the suitcase unless it was on the bed (1 at a time) and the doors to the balcony would open enough to get out because of the bed. It also smelt musty and old, which was pretty rank.
Bathroom was a decent size and the shower gave out good pressure. There was no safe and no fridge in the room.

Staff downstairs when we got there were brilliant. The main guy apologised profusely, and we knew it wasn't his fault, but we were all pretty grumpy.

Breakfast was good, small but decent. No gluten free offered here, or toaster, so bring your own bread/rice cakes for the cheese/cold meat deal. Coffee was good though.

Don't stay on Lido if you're on a budget as its not connected to anything, so the expensive waterbus pass is a must, you can't bridge walk anything. Also it's a good 40 minute trip into the heart of Venezia.

Dear Customers,

We are sorry for the inconvenience that you happened upon arrival at our hotel (mistake happened due to problems of e-mail with the website with which you made the reservation), we tried to accommodate as best as possible, bearing in mind that in those days around the Lido of Venice was full.
We would like to ask you to clarify that it is not our Hotel to deserve a rating so low, but the hotel where we found a room for you.
We would be happy if you could change this unfavorable review, which is not due to an oversight but unfortunately our problems sending e-mail.

Kind regards
La Direzione

We have just returned from a 2 night stay with our 3 year old daughter. The location is perfect, away from the hustle of venice but close enough to enjoy it. It's like having 2 different holidays in 1 as the beach was close enough to walk to as was the water bus stop to venice.
Staff at the hotel were lovely and helpful and the breakfast waiter was very kind to our little girl remembering that she liked chocolate milk with her breakfast.
The rooms are quaint, clean and comfortable. The hotel has character so if you want something more interesting than a travellodge then this is for you.
Thank you to the hotel staff for an enjoyable stay, we will return and will recommend to our friends.

The Hotel is about 5 minutes from the vaperetto station, located on a quite street. Many restaurants and bars close to hand. Okay so the hotel is a bit dated but i think that all adds to the charm. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was a delight too. I'd stay again

Next time i'm in Venice I'm staying over at the Lido rather than being fleeced in the Venice City!
