Grande Albergo Ausonia & Hungaria
Ranked #3 of 33 Hotels in Lido di Venezia

Stayed June 2011 .The Hotel looks older than it is due to its very unusual architecture (I believe it is 100 yrs old or thereabouts).Located in the centre of Venice Lido with pax/ car ferry access from venice. No pooI (I did not see one..?.) but beach 10 min walk, venice passenger ferry 5 mins walk.

pros : Located in cental position for restaurants/shops/ferries.I found it quiet with little road noise.Small outdoor car park(maybe10-15 cars max) which we used. Very interesting looking building, quite friendly/helpful staff, reasonable rates (June),nice change from staying in Venice with all the hustle/bustle.Beaches good but busy (walk/drive to island tips for less crowds.).Restaurant(steakhouse) with alfresco dining.Wifi.Air conditioning worked well and was definitely needed.

cons : As others have mentioned the Photos look better than the actual building which is much smaller in reality. We had a room at the top of the building resembling an attic, well worn, very simple/basic but reasonably clean.Outside facing lift was seriously hot inside(needs air conditioning).Very pleasant outdoor patio which for some reason they don't like you taking your breakfast to??,didn't stop us using it mind you......

I would definitely stay again but pay extra for a better room ( if they have better ?) next time.

As first time visitors to this hotel we were very impressed. There is a feeling of real warmth and welcome as you enter this hotel. The hotel and room was clean and the staff is friendly and very helpful. It is a good location, situated only 3 minutes walking distance to the water taxi to Venice and the airport, and walking around the area is really lovely. The buffet breakfast was excellent, varied and plentiful.

Excellent hotel, at a great price. It is located very near to the ferry stop so it is easy to get into Venice. There isn't much to do in Lido but it is a quiet area and very relaxing. Complimentary breakfast was wonderful: eggs, bacon, fruit, yogurt, cheese, bread... The room was very spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was also quite large. Had a great experience here!

We stayed here For 4 nights as a mini honeymoon after our wedding. We didn't boom until the day before we even left ! We were so tired that we decided we didn't want to stay in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Venice itself so we stayed in this hotel in the island of Lido.

It's a lovely area with nice restaurants and to stroll around and there is great beach also. The vaparetto is only a ten min ride in to st marks square which we enjoyed. The food in the hotel was very disappointing so we only ate there one night. We had great treatments in the spa and the staff are really friendly.

Our room was a little bit on the small side but it suited us as we were gone most of the day.

All in all I would recommend it for somewhere relaxing and not too expensive, and still close enough to the hustle and bustle of Venice. X

We had a great time at this hotel. We had a large room on the top floor that was incredlibly spacious. The bathroom was huge and very clean. It had plenty of storage space and was decorated in a really cute beach-hotel style. The location was perfect - only a few minutes walk to the waterbus station station to go into Venice yet away from the hustle and bustle. We went for dinner at the hotel one night which was fun but a bit pricy! We also went to 2 other restaurants on the Lido strip which was nice as after a busy day sightseeing we really didn't feel like going into the centre of town. The staff were friendly and the hotel had a lovely atmosphere - I would recommed it!

When I was searching in internet for a hotel in Venice, I was indeed fascinated by the pictures of this hotel (e.g. the historical building, luxury SPA service, close location to seabus and Venice). I did my reservation at this hotel with a great excitement; but unfortunately, I had to cancel my reservation the next day, since we had received bad news about my uncle's health and had to urgently return to our home country. Although our reservation was at a non-refundable rate, the Hotel was very kind to accept the refund due to the urgent and unfortunate situation. This was very kind of the hotel, although they had the right not to do so. As a result, we could not stay at the hotel; but at the earliest possibility, I will make sure to come to this hotel and enjoy Venice and hotel's exclusive wellness center. I recommend everyone to visit this hotel. I am sure that you will be convinved, if you just look at the pictures in internet (http://www.hotelhungaria.com).

At first arrival you will not think that the colourful building is your hotel .. but that is where the charm begins.
Friendly staff at entrance, spacious and very nice decor. Rooms are lovely, although I wouldn't recommend the rooms on the top floor, as warm air travels, your room is slightly warmer.
Find out the hard way that the cooler for the airco was turned off as the warm season had ended (October travel), but it was still blooming warm. This was solved by just leaving the window on a crack ..
Being in the centre of the Lido, few hundred meters from the Waterbus station and not far from the Ferry either, it isn't very loud, although there is always something to do on the strip.
As said, the transport to the main island of Venice and others, such as Murano, are only a short bustrip away, and at a very low price. I would recommend buying a multi-hour travel card (at the station on the island) as you will be using it more than you think ..
Free WiFi in the Hotel was handy and available. Breakfast was very continental, for those who don't like it... there are plenty of trattorias in the are to get your alternatives and more local food.
Free car parking space was excellent, as you are not allowed to drive in Venice, but at least you won't have to leave your car on the mainland (out of sight).

Room Tip: Wouldn't recommend a room on the top floor (numbers 400+)
