Our hotel proprietor recommended Oscar's as THE place she goes to for a good meal, so we followed her advice. Oscar's has a restaurant area, sparsely decorated, and a cocktail lounge, which we did not visit because it sounded too noisy.
We ordered cocktails before dinner and the bartender didn't know how to make them until he consulted his bar book. Nice try but no cigar.
Our waitress was very attentive and helpful. She asked about our drinks and when we explained they needed more bitters, she went back to the bartender and brought us some to doctor our drinks.
On to dinner: I had a soup and salad combo, which was disappointing, but my partner enjoyed her Chinese Salad. Dinner with a cocktail each came up to $25.20, so not a bad value.
Unimaginative decor and cold air coming in around the windows made this an unsatisfactory experience, but the locals do seem to like it.
