“Red River Hot Springs hidden gem...limited lodging and food”
Reviewed October 6, 2011

Red River Hot springs has been a favorite of ours for many years. Swimming at the pool is about $7 per day. At present the pool and hot pool are open. There are rooms above the lodge/pool house for rent. We have never stayed in this area. Also, there are Very Old cabins that are for rent. I would not recommend renting one of these cabins as they have no plumbing and limited cooking facilities.
The owners are working on providing food services but have had many complications and other than candy bars and perhaps a hot dog. We found that there is no food available at this time

There are many camp grounds are long the road to Red River Hot Springs and there are other places to lodge but plan head if you require lodging. The camp grounds are clean but I don't believe that any of them have hookups.

Red River area has many historical, interesting places to see...the McGruder Road, Dixie, Golden, Orogrande to name a few. There are moose, elk, deer, bear and many birds. Gold mining was done in this area and you have opportunity to see old mines, piles of rock dredge deposits and abandoned bldgs. Take your camera

You will find a place to eat in Elk City but it is about 30 minutes. Sometimes there are places to eat in Dixie. When in the Red River area be certain to take snacks, water with you. The only gasoline station that I know of that is currently open is in Elk City.

This is a trip that you will love if you plan ahead! have fun
