FairBridge Inn - Coeur d'Alene
Ranked #14 of 22 Hotels in Coeur d'Alene
Reviewed August 23, 2013

We stayed here because of the closeness to Silverwood. Our room was very clean. Staff was friendly & willing to bring extra pillows, quickly. Breakfast was to be expected for a free hotel breakfast. Booking online was easy & rec'd several emails. Overall, the appearance was deceiving. This hotel may be small but had better service than most corp 4 star hotels.

We are very glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay here at Guesthouse. We love the staff we have here. Couldn't of asked for a better staff. We hope you and your family had fun at Silverwood and hope to see you soon. Have a great day.

We have stayed multiple times in the Guest House in Kennewick, and loved it! This hotel needs help. The tub enclosures looked like it was recently installed, the dry wall was rough cut and unfinished, but the outside of the tub was old looking like it had been there a while. But it got worse from there, when we took a shower the tub obviously had no support under it, it sounded like we were going to fall through. The complimentary breakfast area is too small to accommodate the crowd, they had. The quality of food offered was ok, but no where near what is offered in Kennewick. When the office door was left open by the clerk we got an eye full of dirty carpet, the tables in the eating area needed to be washed. Just not a place I would go back to, especially at that price! Room was about 2/3 the size of other Guest Houses.

Thank you for the time in writing a review. We do apologize for any maintenance issues that inconvenienced you during your stay. We have brought any and all maintenance issues up to our maintenance guy here at the hotel and he is doing everything he can to fix them. We are doing a bit of remodeling here in the fall and making our lobby a lot bigger and more inviting to our guest. As for the carpeting in our office downstairs, that has recently been replaced and we are so sorry to hear that the area was exposed during breakfast hours. We are supposed to be keeping all "employee only" doors shut at all times. Hopefully when you are in the area next you could stop by and see our new upgrades. Have a wonderful day.

We arrived late in the evening! We didn't pre book any hotels and most were full!! We were desperate for a place to stay when we stopped by the Guesthouse. We were informed that they had a room available with 2 queens but the A/C wasn't working so we could stay there at a discounted rate of $110! We had no choice but to stay there! The price was very high considering the state of the hotel, no pool and knowing our friends paid the same amount for a walk in rate at the best Western across the street (nicer with a pool)
The room was tiny and very out dated! It also didn't feel clean. It reeked of cheap cleaning products (we think that they were trying to clean/cover up a pet smell). We were also on the first floor! We travelled with 2 children (age 4 and 6) and I had to move a night stand to plug in my sons cpap machine and there was a pile of white stuff behind the night stand! I think it was chunks of the wall??

Breakfast was better than we expected, however the breakfast area was very small!
We will not be staying here again and would not recommend it to any friends or family! That night after the kids were settled I drove around town to find a hotel for our next 2 nights in Coeur D'alene!

Oh, for Pete's sake! Could a place BE any worse? We pulled up to the place two weeks ago and laughed to ourselves. . ." I wonder if we will be put in the basement, since we have a dog?" Well, we were. The first room smelled so strongly of cig smoke, it was almost gag-worthy. Since the place was supposedly smoke-free, we requested another room. We were "up-graded" to a different room in the basement. Up-grade, meaning there were two beds instead of one.

The motel was awful, but the girl behind the desk was terrific. She gave us excellent directions to three different parks, one of which was an off-leash park for the pup. She was overworked and maintained a very cheery disposition, considering she was checking people into a total crap-hole!

Room Tip: Try someplace else!

Im am so sorry to hear that your stay was not pleasant. We recently had undergone a transformation from our 1st floor rooms being smoking to an All non smoking hotel. We are taking measures to reduce the aroma of our past smoking guests. We like to reserve our 1st floor rooms only for our pets to reduce allergic reactions to guests staying on the 2nd or 3rd floor that cannot be around them. I do hope that you come and stay with us again with your pet and see the hard work that we are putting in these rooms to insure our guests have a clean and comfortable stay.

Recommended by another hotel that was full, this was a good second choice. The hallway badly needed steam cleaning, so we were surprised that the room was clean, comfortable and had a nice deep tub. the breakfast is the real star of this location, offering make-your-own strawberry and original flavored waffles, yogurt, eggs and the usual fare in a lovely and very clean lobby area. If you're looking for clean and basic comfort at a reasonable (for Coeur D'Alene) price, this is a good stop and the breakfast makes it a great one for kids.

The lobby didn't make the place look very inviting, but since we had pre paid, we check in. When we opened the door to our room we were shocked! The room smelled really bad and there was black mold on the window sills and in the bathroom! There was water dripping down the inside of the window. We looked in the bathroom and the toilet was cracked. We turned down the lumpy looking beds to find dirty, stained sheets!! We didnt stay, and got out of there as fast as we could to find another motel!(we ate the $68) I have never reviewed a motel before, but I though people should see this review before they make the mistake we did and book this motel.

I am so sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay here with us. We will be doing some renovation here in the fall to make our lobby more spacious and comfortable for our guests. We have reported your concerns about the maintenance issues and have fixed them promptly. It is mandatory at our hotel to not only to have clean rooms but to make the guests feel safe and comfortable. Hopefully in the future you can stop by again and see our new renovations. We would love to have you again.

Spent two nights at this unit. Having just left the Guesthouse Inn in Lewiston, Idaho, we were expecting this unit to be a step up since it was located in the resort city of Coeur d Alene. Boy, were we sorely disappointed.
This motel is 3 stories high.....and it doesn't have an elevator! You have to drag your luggagge up & down 3 narrow flights of stairs to access your 3rd floor room- Not ADA compliant. When we arrived at our room, it was missing the TV remote and a hair-dryer, which we had to go request through the front desk....another hassle. The bathroom sink faucet sprayed water all over the counter-top and you if you opened it more than a dribble. The bathroom was one of the smallest we've ever seen...... to close the door behind you required you to step between the tub and toilet to let the door swing closed. The 'complimentary' breakfast area is composed of 3 tables and 6 chairs squeezed into the lobby. One morning we went down to find all the chairs commandeered by guests, not eating, but "chatting", so breakfast didn't happen for us that morn. There are better quality motels all over CDA, so please take your business there. We'll never return to this place ourselves!

Thank you for writing us your concerns. Please let us know if we can put you on a 1st or 2nd floor room and help you with your luggage on your next stay with us. One of our staff members would love to help in any way they can. We are sorry to hear that your room did not come with a remote. During that time we were ordering some more and going through some " In-room" changes. We are renovating our lobby in the fall to make it more spacious and comfortable for our guest so you will have to come and check It out. Hopefully we can welcome your family in the future.
