My wife Catherine and I spent a most wonderful week at the American Country B&B the first week of July. We had come to Coeur d' Alene to scout out the town to see whether or not we might want to move there, since I have recently retired. From the warm welcome when you first park and walk up to the front door until the last good-byes and picture taking when you leave, Brian and Shar make your experience most memorable.
Since we went to early Mass at St. Joan of Arc most mornings, we only had the morning tray once, but it was always beautiful to see. We made a point to be back for breakfast every day-do not miss it. The breakfasts were better than any 5-Star restaurant we have been to. Every morning it was a new delicious treat and the with the B&B cookbook we can try to making the breakfasts back home for ourselves. We stayed in the Big Sweet and enjoyed every minute. With the window open we could go to sleep and wake up to the beautiful bird songs coming from the woods close by. The Comphy bedding helped us get wonderful rest and we ordered and are now enjoying Comphy bedding at home. One night I used too much bubble bath and had bubbles rising like a mountain out of a Lucile Ball show, but I managed not to drown under the bubble mountain-it was great fun.
Aside from the wonderful facilities and tremendous food, the best part of staying at the American Country B&B are the Scotts. They really make you feel like you are at your own home. They pamper you incessantly and are willing to help you find places to go, things to do, and just fun activities in the area. The afternoon cookie snack and the evening sweet treat were always wonderful. We were extremely thankful that we had scheduled eight nights at the B&B-It really made our vacation stay most memorable. When the time came, it was really tough to say good bye to our new friends. Whenever we return to Coeur d' Alene in the future, we will certainly check to see if there is any "room at the inn" for us.
