Was skeptical going in from past reviews-- but very happy to report they turned it around!
There may be a new manager , not sure but she was on top of it by just being seen everywhere. Service was very good--very experienced waitress --salad bar was wonderful and you can go back(try their warm rolls or veggie biscuits)- There were five of us and every meal was very good... Two of us had their Wood plank sockeye salmon, perfectly prepared..along with green beans/baby asparagus/corn on cob and again, just bright green and crispy and everything on the plate hot when it arrived. We were in no hurry and our waitress picked up on that and did not rush us.. Big milestone birthday!
I really thought highly of a small mistake of a forgotten drink order for one of us, no biggie but it came a little later and no charge..she missed it on the computer..
They have an outside covered deck that rolled with the waves and young families with small kids gravitated to that area it seemed.. we were inside main and had a fantastic view of the lake..rolling hills..
Kudos to Cedars and keep up the improvements..

What a pleasant surprise. Here is a restaurant on a floating barge --- sounds like a real tourist trap. However, the food is wonderful and the staff is very helpful and more than willing to make recommendations on their menu. The scallops with gorgonzola cheese is fantastic and the fresh salmon on cedar plank was done to perfection. Desserts include wonderful Huckleberry cheesecake and delightful cookies. And, the salad bar is well maintained with fresh items.

For 5 years running, lovely wifey & I have celebrated our Anniversary Dinner at Cedars. This year was fabulous as always. Our server, Shelly, was a gem. We have been fortunate to have her as our server 3 of the last 5 anniversary dinners. She helped to make our dinner extra special. If you have never been to Cedars, then by all means go. Has it changed, yes a little ( will explain later).
Physical Plant: As it implies, Cedars is truly a "floating restaurant" at the south end of Lake Coeur d'Alene where it flows into the Spokane River. You actually enter the restaurant by a long "gangway"attached to shore. If you are boating, you can call ahead and secure your vessel at Cedars attached docks. The staff will come out and assist in mooring your craft. Even in the rain like it was today, the views are spectacular. In more clement weather, try seating in the out door covered patio. If you are prone to sea sickness, sit inside. The boats going by create wakes which in turn rock the patio deck a tad. There is really no bad seat in the house. However if you want a window table, I suggest dinning early, say 4:30-5:00 PM to ensure a window seat,
Service: In all, I would estimate we have frequented Cedars on about 30 occasions. We have taken each member of our family there and celebrated the birthday for four of them. Seems whenever family comes to town, the first request is dinner at Cedars. In all the visits, we have only had a couple less than ....enthusiastic servers. Seems Cedars hires the friendliest servers and bus anywhere. Your water glass is never empty and your plate is swiftly cleared when emptied. Your server is attentive, however, not intrusive.
Food: Tradition has it that we always order the Prime Rib Dinner for or Anniversary. This evening was the tastiest cut we have ever experienced....anywhere. Before tonight, Kimos in Lahaina Town, Maui had the top spot for best Prime Rib. Wifey had her cut well done and mine was rare. The spices were perfect and the meat was tender enough to fork cut. The salad bar was very good. Potato was piping hot and the garlic green beans just plain yummy. The one change we noticed was that this year Cedars stopped serving the hot Rosemary bread and instead you pick up a roll or cheese biscuit at the salad bar. Cedars, bring back the Rosemary bread! I will not comment on the other entrees as it has been several months since our last visit, As always, the restaurant is warm ( literally, you are not cold inside) and the atmosphere pleasant. If you are local and never tried the place, do so. If you are a visitor, do yourselves a favor and have dinner here.

Hotel staff strongly recommended this restaurant. They were right.
As the name implies, the restaurant is floating at lakeside. The view is incredible. The food was excellent and the service was very good. All of the employees were very friendly and you could see they enjoyed their jobs. We had the Ruby Trout and the prime rib. Both were an excellent value and memorable.
