John & Tina were wonderful hosts at this very nice B&B in CD'A. When we arrived, we were given a tour of the entire place (a converted schoolhouse), then as we were unpacking in our rooms, John arrived with a fresh rose for my wife, and water and fresh (still warm!) cookies for all of us. Breakfast the first morning was so splendid that we had to buy the cookbook, and were again pleasantly surprised - not only did it contain The Roosevelt's recipes, but many recipes from other B&Bs in the area.

Four days/three nights of happiness and peace. The large dog (Pippin) was friendly, and gentle enough our one-year-old was able to pet her. :) We had a wonderful time, and would happily recommend The Roosevelt with John & Tina to anyone looking for a great B&B experience.

We were looking for a romantic getaway and it was one of the worst experiences ever. I am not a fan of antiques, but was trying to be open minded. The decor is in desperate need of updating. The walls are paper thin and you can hear every word your neighbor is saying. If you want romance, forget it...he beds squeak so loud that the entire place would hear you. Two tiny flat pillows were on the bed and I imagine they were as old as the place itself. For $150 a night! Are you kdding? They describe it as a spa and it is the farthest thing from a spa I have ever seen. The upper floor was so hot we had to open a window - fortunately it wasn't too loud outside. I read good reviews, so to each their own, however, don't stay here if you want romance, quiet, cleanliness, comfortable beds, fluffy pillows or a spa experience.

Dear petnut2,

Thank you for your feedback. We like to hear all of our guest’s feedback even if it is not always positive. We are sorry the décor did not impress you. We have tried to decorate the Inn with antiques from the turn of the 20th century when this red-brick school house was originally built. We realize this décor is not for everyone but it is the essence of our establishment.

Thank you for making us aware of the squeaking bed issue. We tightened all the nuts and bolts and will replace the bed frames if it happens again. This is excellent feedback!!

Based on your feedback we are offering guests a choice of pillows. I guess we bought what we like, but acknowledge that one size does not bit all. We are putting in each armoire or making available a choice of high quality, highly fluffy hybrid fill and Tempurpedic Memory foam pillows..

Lastly, we are saddened that you did not enjoy the spa experience. We offer a spa package which includes many types of messages and therapies (in our two massage rooms) and all guests have access to our oversized hot tub and sauna. We do not advertise ourselves as a full service spa, but a Bed and Breakfast offering a spa package. Apologies if that was not understood.

We hope you will give us a second chance to meet your expectations. If you give me a call personally, I will put you in our best suite for a reduced price and see if is more to your liking.

Tina Hough

Just returned from a business trip from Coeur d'Alene, if you could call it that. Spent 4 wonderful days at the Roosevelt Inn. John & Tina were fantastic hosts and John is also a great chef for those of you who enjoy fresh breakfasts. The room was comfortable, the scenery of the town and surrounding lake and countryside were beautiful and the people were friendly. Make sure you venture out into the countryside and up to Wallace and the surrounding lakes and streams. You won't regret the drive. Can't wait to return for a longer stay. Thanks John & Tina.

We just returned from The Roosevelt and had a lovely, relaxing stay. The mystery dinner was fun. It wouldn't be worth the cost for the dinner alone so definitely book the package with the overnight stay. The husband and wife who runs the Roosevelt are very good at what they do. They are very personable and attentive to guests needs. The building itself is full of history with all of the modern conveniences. A wonderful weekend getaway!

We had a lovely stay at this sweet B&B. The rooms were lovely with comfortable beds, the owners were very friendly and willing to help with our every question, and the rooms throughout were stylishly decorated in individual themes. the history of the building was fun to learn about and the location to local restaurants and attractions can't be beat. Their Ski Packages were awesome and their Chili dinner made coming home to the Inn so nice; and a soak in the HUGE hot tub made us feel wonderful! For a relaxing spot of down-time and a delicious breakfast to follow in the morning...this quaint little spot can't be beat!

My husband and I loved the personal service and knowledgeable staff. We've stayed at the Roosevelt several times and always enjoyed ourselves. Its a historic building (old schoolhouse) converted to a B & B. The owners will recommend restaurants, make reservations, and suggest activities we otherwise would've missed (biking the Hiawatha Trail, -- amazing). Rooms are spacious, quiet and cozy; location is great for walking to beaches and downtown.
