“Great Place!”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

The food was wonderful! Homemade butter pecan French toast was yummy. The warm bread pudding upon check in was the incredible. Homemade cookies available at all times. Homemade granola and warm croissants that melted in your mouth. The friendliness outstanding! Tina and John are wonderful hosts and very knowledgeable about the area. The rooms are beautiful! Each one is a decorating masterpiece. Well done!

Thank you so much for the fabulous review! We do our very best to make every guest feel like royalty here at the Roosevelt and I'm glad that we succeeded in doing that!

We're thrilled that you enjoyed the delicious food and treats during your stay. We also offer dinner on Monday evenings during the summer and High Teas on Tuesday's and Saturday's year round. These are so much fun, and great for special occasions or a girls parties!

We hope that you'll return to CDA very soon, we look forward to seeing you again.

Warmest Regards,
John and Tina

The Roosevelt Inn B&B, formerly a school built in 1905, offers warm hospitality and many extras that made our stay especially nice and memorable. The Houghs, John and Tina, spare nothing in providing thoughtful amenities during a visit there. The entrance is lovely as are the grounds. The rooms are individually and tastefully decorated and are available to enter and enjoy. Our room was lovely and the bed gave us just as good sleep as our own at home. The proprietors/owners have a history there for the past 15 years, and John actually attended school there as a child. Much has been preserved, and much has been renovated to provide great accommodations. Tina Hough has a gift for design and decorating. Everywhere you look you'll see art, furnishings, remembrances of things past, and an attention to detail and quality that pleases your senses. Cleanliness and excellent maintenance must be high priorities as it's obvious everywhere, yet the atmosphere is carefree and comfortable. Both the interior and exterior show tender care. The grounds are spacious and inviting. There is a golden retriever, Rohan, who is well trained and not at all not intrusive. The Houghs and other guests were part of the pleasure of staying, for we had conversation that was fun, interesting and friendly. Had we wanted to not interact, that would have been fine too.

Just a couple of blocks from downtown and Lake Coeur d'Alene the location made it a pleasure to park the car for three days and walk to a great variety of activities including excellent restaurants, shops, Tubb's Hill for hiking, the City Park, and the Resort with its cruise of the north end of the lake.

Nourishing and appealing breakfasts and other food delights were offered with attention to presentation, so we felt pampered in this respect also. The Houghs have a sure sense of what it takes to provide guests with great memories of a stay at their historic inn.

We're so happy you came to stay with us!! We had so much fun getting to know you both and hearing your interesting stories about teaching english as a 2nd language in China! What an amazing experience!

We hope that your friends enjoyed the Huckleberry and Lemon Cream chocolates that you purchased for them... or were they just too delicious that you kept them??

We hope you'll come back and visit us very soon, there is much more pampering to be had.

Warmest Regards,
John and Tina

My husband and I stayed for 3 days/2 nights and didn't want to leave! The owners really try to make you feel welcomed and comfortable and worked hard to make sure any/all needs were met. We were served delicious bread pudding upon arrival, I was given a rose, there was nice music playing in our room, yummy chocolates each night when the bed was turned down, comfortable rooms, fun antique decor, great grounds, a friendly dog, great breakfast (especially the omelets)...I could go on but you get the point! I would go back in a heartbeat!

Thank you for your kind words! We have such wonderful people stay with us and we love when our guests return to visit us again. We sure hope to see you again!

Our omelets are definitely a favorite around here, and we are quite famous for our bread pudding with caramel sauce! We have the recipe available in our cookbook so let us know if you're interested in purchasing one.

It was our great pleasure having you stay with us, and we hope you'll try one of our Premiere Suites on your next visit.

Warmest Regards,
John and Tina

We loved our stay at the Roosevelt Inn. The room (we had the Bell tower room) was spectacular, the owners and staff couldn't have been nicer, we left feeling like we were leaving good friends behind. The breakfast will be enough for all day, on our second day, (yesterday) neither of us had to eat again all day. The wine and cheese reception each day is a lot of fun, and John's re-counting of the "Gordon Ramsey Adventure" was fun and entertaining. We are reluctant to recommend it too highly as we want to be able to go back without having to make reservations months in advance, but John and Tina deserve to have lots of guests. Go and enjoy, you will not be disappointed for a second with this bed and breakfast. We will be back for sure. Jack & Rebecca Curry

Room Tip: Can't beat the Bell Tower Room

My husband and I recently stayed at the Roosevelt Inn for a weekend getaway. We have stayed at several B&B's before, and so we thought we knew what to expect. But we were very pleasantly surprised by the extra level of service and attention to detail that John and Tina provide.

First, we received a personal tour of the Inn, which was followed by a beautiful tray delivered to our room with a rose and amazing bread pudding for an afternoon treat. Next was a manager's reception, which included wine, cheese and fruit. My husband and I left the Inn to go to dinner, and upon returning to our room, saw that our hosts had turned-down our room (closed the curtains, turned down the bed) and even left us delicious chocolate truffles! This spoiling was increased at breakfast the next day when we found a wonderful buffet featuring make-your-own orange zest waffles, greek honey yogurt, homemade granola, fruit salad, house-made huckleberry jam, regular butter and honey butter, and more. This is ON TOP of an additional hot from the kitchen entree! The first day was a delicious eggs florentine casserole with home fries, and the second day was eggs any way, sausage or bacon, and home fries (great mixed potato hash browns with onions, peppers and green onions.) We stuffed ourselves both days. The quality and quantity of the breakfast was superb, by far the best breakfast offered at any of the B&B's we've stayed at.

Another example of their level of dedication: I was sad to miss out on the large hot tub because I had forgotten my swimming suit, but Tina had a bin full of swimming suits that I was able to look through and borrow! The first day using the hot tub, it needed servicing (it was under temperature), but we didn't even mention anything. Within hours of us not saying anything, we had a note on our door with an apology, and said that the problem had been remedied and would be fixed by that evening. The next day when we used the hot tub, it had been refilled, was nice and hot, and even had a brand new cover! We were very impressed at how quickly the problem had been addressed and fixed.

It is obvious the owners spend a lot of time and effort wanting to make the stay as positive as possible for their guests. Our room was very clean, the hot tub was great, breakfast was awesome, and we couldn't have been happier. Thank you for a wonderful weekend away!

Room Tip: Try the Tower Room for the view!

Hi Kendra,

Thanks so much for the terrific review! We're so happy that you chose to stay with us for your birthday and that it was above and beyond your expectations. That is always our goal!

We hope that you'll return again for kayaking on the lake! It was unfortunate that the weather did not cooperate while you were with us. We would be very happy to set that up for you the next time you come.

We hope that you're enjoying our delicious homemade granola and hope that you'll come visit us again very soon!

Warmest Regards,
John & Tina

They went beyond our expectations of what to expect for a bed and breakfast. The room was beautifully decorated and the breakfast was delicious. Such a great romantic getaway. The Hotel is located perfectly. Its away from noise but just a short walk to lake and shops. We will definitely tell our friends and plan another trip at the Roosevelt.

Thanks for the excellent review! We're so happy that you enjoyed your time with us. It was a pleasure getting to know you both. Just after you left, we installed a new fireplace in the Principal's Suite, or as we lovingly refer to it... the "Lamb Suite"!

Thanks again for choosing to stay with us, and we hope you'll be back very soon to see your new and improved room!

My first visit to this area was just great, but it was the Roosevelt Inn and the wonderful hosts, John and Tina, that made the trip a very rewarding experience. The Inn is centrally located making it possible to just leave your car there and to walk the town. You would think you would here the noise from the streets, but the walls of the hotel are so thick, it almost silent making it easy to sleep. Now, it being a B&B, we did take advantage of breakfast, unlike other B&B's, you had a time frame in which you can go down and order what you want that's offered. If I'm not mistaken, 8-10am. Let me tell ya, Johns omelets are the bomb! It lasted us all day without us needing to get lunch, and we were busy running around. Best of all, it was great talking to John and Tina, they are exquisite guests. This will be our planned stop whenever we go back to visit. You cant lose on this one.

Darrell
