“A Nice Neighborhood Find”
Reviewed August 24, 2012

My husband and I recently moved to this area and are eating out a lot. We had lunch and ordered 2 Reuben sandwiches. They Were open faced and very generous in size. Nice flavor. The fries were also very tasty. Our waiter was very friendly and looked after all our needs. We will definitely be back and would recommend this restaurant to others.

“Good service, food OK!”
Reviewed August 3, 2012

We had dinner here while on a short stay in Coeur D'Alene. Atmosphere and service were good. Food was okay. Coeur D'Alene is an expensive place to eat.

“Gone Downhill”
Reviewed March 28, 2012

We've been going to Kelly's since it opened. There have been 3 different owners. The newest owners have managed to ruin what was once a great place to get Irish food. They use to have the most amazing sandwiches - the Reuben was to die for! We'd been told the new owners were putting out horrible food by quite a few people so we ventured in last week to see for ourselves.

Our party started by asking for pints of Smithwicks - that's Ireland's oldest Ale. We pronounced it "smiddicks" as that's how it is pronounced. The server corrected us with "Smith Wicks". Turns out they stopped carrying the beer, but it was so rude of the server to keep incorrectly correcting us while we discussed the pulling of Smithwick's from this Irish pub. How can you be representing an Irish pub and not know how to say the name of Ireland's oldest beer? And, more importantly, what happened to the customer is always right? Especially when WE WERE RIGHT!

The menu has been overhauled with the new ownership. Our party ordered the Reuben, a few of the other sandwiches and the fish & chips expecting them to be as great as they use to be. We were more than sorely disappointed when our plates arrived. The sandwiches are now HALF the size and the prices went UP. The meat was so tough and chewy it had to be spit out. The bread was burnt. The sauce they used tasted too sweet. The onions and peppers that should have been caramelized and tender were crunchy and undercooked. The Reuben, what was once Kelly's Irish Pub & Grill's shining star, was a dry, tasteless mess. The fish was so greasy you could have changed your car's oil with it. Thank goodness the fries were good or we would have had nothing to eat.

I brought half of my tiny sandwich home. My teenage son heated it up the next day (as he's done often when I brought home leftovers from Kelly's). He took one bite and tossed it in the garbage. If a teenage boy who will eat just about anything thinks a sandwich is gross enough to throw away, that sandwich much be pretty nasty.
