“Easy walking through the woods, with beautiful views of the lake”
Reviewed August 16, 2013

A little hard to find due to the construction of a new park area, Tubbs Hill is a great place to walk, swim and just enjoy amazing views of the lake. There are several ways to find the walking paths 1) The easiest is to park behind City Hall and the Library on 8th street. There is plenty of parking and you can walk along the paved path behind the construction area to the water and the dirt paths on Tubbs HIll. 2) You can park along Sherman ave or a side street and walk down 3rd street towards the water. You'll have to continue walking along the construction fence behind the Coeur D'Alene resort and then along a short section of docks which will take you to the start of the Tubbs Hill trails. 3) Go down 10th street to where it meets 11th street and E Lakeshore Dr. There is some parking there and you can find the other end of the Tubbs Hill trails here. The trails are not paved and there are some uphill sections but overall pretty easy and you get great views. The trails are not marked and you see side trails going off everywhere so there is some exploring involved. The main trail goes along the water and there are plenty of places to swim or jump off rocks into the crystal clear water. Great way to spend an afternoon on a warm day.

“Is this seriously in the middle of town?”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

Wow! We hiked around Tubbs Hill last week and were very pleased. Please note.... due to construction it is important to park on the East Tubbs Hill Park. Google has the exact address for your GPS.

We walked pretty quickly and did it in under an hour. Make sure to bring a water bottle on a hot day. I would say this is a great walk/hike for most ability levels. There are a few rocky places that you could slip, but overall, it is pretty flat. We came across quite a few people. Enough to feel sage, but not too many to feel like we were not getting away from the rat race. Take the time and do Tubbs Hill!

“Nice hike to stretch your legs right in downtown”

Well worth the trip - easy paths that provide nice views. We had trouble finding the trailhead which doesn't show up on GPS. Go to 10th Ave park.

“Good workout”

Great exercise going on this trail. Need good shoes, no flip flops. Up and down hills, narrow trail with great views of the lake. Should be in pretty good shape to do this one.

“Best spot on the lake!”
Reviewed August 7, 2013

We LOVED this nature trail and were very excited to find ourselves a very quiet beach at the end. The view was amazing - the water was breathtaking - it was clean, people were friendly and the walk was just long enough for the kids.
Downside - the construction taking place at the trailhead - but we made our way around.
