Owner description: Excellent cutthroat trout river.

The St Joe tumbles down from some really primitive area from the high mtn peaks between Idaho and Montana down through St Maries and empties into Lake Coeur d alene. There are several nice campgrounds along the river.

Great camping and fishing area. Bring your quad and leave your kids.

The "Joe" has it all...rugged mountains, wildlife, rafting for the faint of heart as well as the adventurous and lots of camping opportunities. All three ways of getting there are amazing; through St. Maries you get the lazy, wide open part of the St. Joe, over Moon Pass you get to go through old railroad tunnels (go ahead and look down, you might get dizzy, but oh well) and over Gold pass from St. Regis, MT is pristine. Whatever way you get there, it's worth the effort.

My husband enjoys fly fishing and the "St. Joe" is his favorite destination. It's a ways outside Cd'A, but worth the drive.
