“Best Resort we've been to”

This place was PERFECT in every way, the room was beautifully appointed, luxurious and the view beyond words. The bed and multiple pillows was super comfy. We had a delicious room-service breakfast sitting on our sofa overlooking the lake. They thought of EVERYthing! The spa was easily in my top 3 visits, we had a couples massage in a cozy room with a fireplace going and 2 very professional massage therapists, this room too looked out over the lake. After the massage they brought us mimosas in the "Quiet room" and we basked in the luxury of the spa. Of course, the price was steep ($360 per night) so we expected great and we got it!!!

We booked a lakeview room (an incredibly overpriced splurge) for one night on the weekend of my husband's birthday, along with a couple's massage and champagne in the room. When checking in, we were delighted to hear that they had upgraded us to one of the suites on the top floor. The highlight of the room is the view, no question. The view from the big bay window seat was just incredible! So was the bathroom- huge tile and glass shower with seperate big tub and vanity areas.

There were a few minor problems: noisy, intrusive neighbors (which security apparently settled down after we called about them); 2 bugs in the window, and strangely enough, the chain not connected to the flusher in the toilet tank (weird, but easily fixed). Also, the bed was VERY puffy and uncomfortable. But we got help with last minute reservations and transportation to Cedars, and the lobby art shop had a great assortment of sculptures and paintings. The spa was great, too- very low key and relaxing.

We will certainly not be spending that much money again to stay at the resort anytime soon. However, for one night, we really enjoyed our time there and will not soon forget the view.

  • Disliked — the uncomfortable bed, the price

we recently spent a few days at the Coeur d' Alene resort. You walk in and the Lobby area is wonderful. We stayed in a premier lake view room. We were suprised when we opened the door. We found it very outdated and very small. The tv receptioin was fuzzy the balcony kept opening, it was noisy, and a dead bee was found in the window seal. The best thing about the room was the view. The service was pretty good. I think the room was very overpriced. The price might not have been so bad if you were'nt charged extra for everything including local calls.

Given the price and location I was expecting something very special, instead I was very disappointed.

The good:
clean
great view

The bad:
noisy
way too expensive

The total cost to stay is really 3 times what it should be.

I'm a little puzzled by all the negative reviews of this hotel. We just got back from staying there over Labor Day and have stayed here 4 times over the last few years.

Admittedly I've always stayed in the lakefront rooms with fireplaces and these are very nice rooms. Most of the reviews seem to be about the back rooms that I've never seen. The lakefront rooms are set up studio style with a raised bed area and a lower area with couch, desk, chair, and fire place. The TV is above the desk on a pivoting are and LCD. The internet connection is free. The rooms were renovated recently with new granite in the bathrooms, etc. The room layout wasn't changed but everything is much nicer than before. The beds are only marginal. The decks have spectacular views of the marina and lake though the railings are not kid proof.

The resort is in the best location in town. It is right on the floating boardwalk that goes around the marina, near the large public beach park, and less than a block from downtown. It also very close to good hiking to the east of the hotel.

The resort has 2 restaurants - casual and nice that are fine if not spectacular as well as an additional bar. They also have nightly music and a portable bar outside.

You can rent Cobalt boats or jetskis right in front of the hotel. The Cobalt boats are great but it is disappointing that they don't allow tubes, skis, or wakeboards on the rental.

There are 2 pools, a nice large indoor pool with 2 hottubs and a small outdoor vinyl pool with a deck. There is no service except water indoors but you can get service outdoors. The outdoor pool has a nice deck but the pool itself is weak. I'd suggest the resort expand this pool.

We've always had a great time here, our kids love it. Is it 5 Star - No. Is it 4 Star - Absolutely. Housekeeping is fine, not great but fine. The staff at the resort are acceptable if not overly friendly.

So, we absolutely recommend the resort. It is always very busy so obviously very popular.

Too many loud meeting attendees roaming public areas, etc. Beware as many so-called upgraded rooms overlook wooden flat roof. Our room was comfortable, a bit tight, a tad worn and had no bath, only shower. We blame ourselves for not asking some basic questions about the rooms at check-in. Beverly's, their upscale eatery, has nice lake view, adequate service and minimally acceptable food. (I'll write a food review.) Dress code throughout the resort is "whatever," as men wearing tee's, shorts and flip flops are permitted to dine at Beverly's. We almost felt out of place as I wore a Jacket and wife a dress and heels. As golfers, we enjoyed the well-maintained course with the unique floating par-3 green. Bell staff and room service were both very efficient and prompt.

I was very disappointed with the quality of the room. This hotel needs to upgrade the older wing or cut the prices of the room in half. The room was very dirty and lacked the character you would expected form a resort hotel. I spend $229.00 per night for a room that should be valued at no more that $100.00. When I inquried about upgrading my room they told me the the hotel was full. Save your money and stay at somewhere else.
