“Nancy "made" our stay”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

McFarland Inn is a lovely, Craftsman house on a tree lined street near down town. We were able to walk to most things we wanted to do, which is good because parking is at a premium. Our room, the Huckleberry, was cobbled out of several rooms upstairs giving us ample room to move about and an oversized bath with a claw foot tub and a shower. It was Nancy who made the place special. Yes, she is a wonderful cook, yes she knows where to go to eat, yes she really knows the city well, yes there are cookies, a frig to use, and snacks when you want them but it's the fact that she obviously loves what she is doing and really loves to sit and chat with the guests (tired as she gets during the season) that makes the place feel so nice to come "home" to. Her breakfasts are to die for. We highly recommend this inn when you are in CdA.

We stayed at The McFarland Inn for just one night, but it was a great experience!! The home is set up perfectly for a B&B, but the extra touches that make it special are all Nancy! The house is an historical treasure with all the comforts of a modern day home. The rooms are clean and bright. The bathrooms are newly remodeled. The bedrooms are comfortable and nicely furnished.
Located within a block or two walk from downtown and the lake, but situated in a tree-lined residencial area. Restaurants within walking distance. DON'T miss Nancy's breakfast! A sunny room with a lovely table arrangement, but the real draw is her marvelous cooking!! We will be back to stay again.

Room Tip: had a room with a private bath in the corner upstairs facing the drive not the street. Arrive befor...

We stayed in early August,2013. Nancy, the owner, cook, and local restaurant expert, is extraordinarily helpful and has very good judgement about where to go and what restaurants to try. A former New Yorker with very good taste, her recommendations ought be trusted. We really enjoyed the local bike trails around the lake on the bicycles she provided (which were in great shape.). And you will read about her breakfasts: They should not be missed. She works hard to provide a memorable (and I really mean memorable) breakfast each day. The rooms, beds, and furnishings are nice and of high quality. The house feels old (as it should if you resd about its history) in a warm and cozy way. Floors and stairs creak a bit reflecting the history of the house.

Recently stayed for just a night at McFarland Inn. I chose to book here, rather than stay at my usual large hotel, because of the comments about the breakfast and snacks, as well as the location.
The B & B is located on a tree-lined street about a 10 minute walk to the 'main drag', Sherman St.
I found the numbered street system of CDA very easy to navigate (however, on a Sunday afternoon, somewhat of a dearth of parking spaces; a large covered lot is to be built).
I chose the Kootenai room because of it's lovely decor, although they all look nicely done (and the princess is picky). The bathroom across the hall turned out not to be a big deal, as the other guests weren't often around (you don't necessarily want to bump into someone running across the hall in the morning!). It was large and clean.
The bed was comfy with above average quality linens. She has central A/C, but an overhead and portable fan are also provided, which was fine, as I am an energy conserver.
The breakfast, now served buffet style from 8 to 9:30, was nicely presented, with lovely jam, toast, yogurt, various fresh fruits, hot drinks and cereals. That morning she served her 'bananas foster' waffle with a dab of creme fraiche, a sprig of mint and sausage-very tasty. She was very attentive in regards to refilling coffee, etc.
I had a drink and snack at the nearby 315 Martinis and Tapas Restaurant-delish.
Proprietress Nancy was friendly and helpful. I would recommend the McFarland Inn.

We stayed overnight from Wednesday Aug 7th to Thursday Aug 8th, while we were passing through town on our way to Glacier National Park. Nancy, the owner and host of McFarland Inn Bed and Breakfast was fabulous. Our accommodations were lovely and comfortable. Nancy is a wonderful cook, and the breakfast she prepared was delicious.

It's just a little stroll into town from the Inn, and Nancy even offers cruisers for her guests to borrow during their stay at McFarland. We were so pleasantly surprised by the beauty of the home, and the warmth of our host, Nancy. We'll be back, for sure!

Just left this morning, and was sorry to go. Nancy is a wonderful hostess. She has really put a lot of thought and care into the McFarland Inn. Each day we started with a spectacular breakfast. We received great tips from Nancy on where to go and what to do. We used the bikes she has for guests one day, took advantage of a discount for jet skis another day. We're were there for a total of 5 nights. Our room and bathroom was very nice. The house itself is lovely, as are all of her gardens. She has snacks and drinks in the lounge that were available to us 24/7. The Inn is an easy walk to downtown, and we hardly used our car while we were there. We had to leave early this morning, and Nancy packed breakfast for the road for us and left it in the fridge. Can't say enough nice things about the McFarland Inn! Will miss Charlie!

Her breakfast each morning is five star delicious and the presentation is extraordinary! Conveniently located within walking distance to historical downtown Coeur D'Alene making the exploration of downtown an easy endeavor.
