“Very pleasant surprise”
Reviewed June 13, 2011

Staying at a Best Western just off the interstate usually means a simple room and coffee. This Best Western in Caldwell was a nice surprise, tasteful entrance and lounge area with fireplace. Our room was comfy and clean, jacuzzi tub quite fun, separate from the large bathroom. Continental breakfast area was clean, coffee hot and crock of sausage gravy for the biscuits, eat while reading the free morning paper. The front desk was expecting us and let us check in early, professional customer service and a great low rate means we'll be back.

We stayed here on a trip south to Arizona. We stayed in the Executive suite and more than met our expectations. The two room suite was larger than we needed for two of us but would be great for a family. I loved the jacuzzi tub. Just the thing after a long day of driving. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was adequate. There was a little noise from other rooms but not bad. The beds are firm. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay.

This Best Western is nothing fancy, but perfectly adequate and a good value. I stayed here 2 nights, at the beginning and end of a 12-day road trip. My room for the second night (on the main floor) seemed a bit nicer than the room I had earlier on the second floor. Coming from a state where smoking is banned in public buildings, my only complaint is that the hallways smelled of cigarette smoke. Fortunately, the odor wasn't apparent inside the non-smoking rooms. (The problem is the Idaho legislature's, not the motel management's.) This motel is quite pet-friendly, and there's a large vacant lot next door that's handy for walking dogs.

We arrived at this motel on a Friday evening with no reservation. They honored a coupon we had even though the motel was nearly full. When I asked if they had a pet room available the desk clerk informed me that "all our rooms are pet rooms!" Another nice touch was the array of local wines for sale in the lobby. The room was spacious, indoor pool and spa very nice. Breakfast was less than great but definitely not the worst I've had.

We have returned to this hotel on our travels three times now and have enjoyed every visit. The rooms are modern and clean, the hotel has nice amenities including wi-fi, fridge and microwave, and they serve a decent hot breakfast. The staff is nice, too. We will continue to stop at the Best Western Caldwell Inn and Suites when we're in the area..

This hotel is right off of the freeway in Caldwell, Idaho. We stayed here because of a softball tournament and the fields were about a mile away. We stayed in the executive king suite which consists of two rooms divided by a nearly full wall, but with an oversized doorway opening (without a door). The king bed was very comfortable, but the sleeper-couch was pretty saggy both as a couch and a bed. The kids didn't seem to mind too much, although my son complained about my daughter moving around in the sleeper and keeping him awake so we ended up having a roll-away bed brought in for him which was fine and no extra cost.

There is a small fridge and a microwave "kitchenette" area with a counter and small sink. No utensils or anything though. One micro popcorn and some coffee were available in the room.

Two TVs, one in the main room and one in the bedroom. Lots of sitting space and a fairly large dining table in the main room with four chairs.

Large bathroom with jacuzzi tub and large counter, but only one sink. Stand up shower with no shelves to speak of and a really high shower head that the kids couldn't reach to adjust.

Sort of a combo of modern and "standard hotel" decor - for instance nice tiling in the bathroom but average fixtures and amenities otherwise.

Overall, it was very nice to come back to the room between games and it was quite spacious for our family of 4. The pool area was large and nice, exercise room only had treadmill, bike and one of those "all-in-one" weight machines that really doesn't work for anything.

Breakfast was fairly substantial - cereal, pastries, make-your-own waffles, sausage, potatoes and egg "disks", yogurt, bread & bagels for toasting with pb, jam, cream cheese. The worst part was that it was not ever cleaned during the breakfast rush so it looked like a tornado hit and was not kept well stocked.

The hotel does have smoking rooms and although our room did not smell of smoke, the hallways had that faint smoking odor throughout. It was there, but not TOO obvious or bothersome.

Lots of picky comments - generally good and comfortable stay and very friendly staff.
