We came in June and there were beautiful flowers blooming everywhere. The setting and the grounds are quite beautiful but it's a very small place with a very limited number of plants/flowers. I'm not sure we spent more than an hour there. We're from Chicago so it's hard to not compare but it's just not much of an experience as compared with the Chicago Botanic Gardens. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that we went but we wouldn't go back.

This must be the world's largest walled garden! Last time I was here was in summer, so it was nice to see a different season. not crowded. peaceful despite being in the old penitentiary! definitely a must see when in boise.

Visitng in the winter time is, I assume, a little different than the summer or spring. However if you time your visit like we did during the Christmas season you can experience the garden all lit up at night.

It's really neat to see the park/garden all lit up with the lights and fires around. It's just 7 bucks a head to see everything, and free hot chocolate, cider and cookies for all.

Being from Austin and the "winter" heat it was nice to be in some cold weather and enjoy the season. There are plenty of picture taking options and Santa makes a visit for the kids..though check ahead if this is a must have.

During the day it looked as if one could hike to a huge looking cross at the top of the mountain, but it did looked like would take a while.

I'd love to come back during the summer/spring to see the garden in color, but the lights were amazing.

We enjoyed an evening of dinner and socialization as a company at Botanical Gardens. After dinner, we walked through the garden and enjoyed the Christmas lights. The staff covered the complete garden with different Christmas and holiday themes. We miss seeing the tree lighting at Temple Square in Utah and this was a fun experience to enjoy the festival spirits in Boise.

The Garden includes a number of coves to sit and look over the garden. I plan on returning in the summer and read about the different type of plants in the garden. I image the roses will smell very good in the summer. The garden includes a wide variety of yucca and desert cactus. Additionally, there are many stone statues of figurines to enjoy. And Lastly, you can speculate on the individuals in the cemetery.

The grounds were well kept and very clean. The design seems to be very safe. Your only a few minutes from the peak of the mountain over looking the valley. Also, you may want to tour the old penitenary nearby.
