This zoo is located in a quiet peaceful park with many large trees that provide shade during very hot days. We spent a morning exploring the exhibits. My daughter especially enjoyed the butterfly exhibit and the opportunity to get closer to larger animals such as zebras and giraffes than is possible in large zoos. The there are many play areas for young children. The admission is super reasonable. We could have spent longer if we were not on a long trip.

We visited the Zoo while on vacation in the Boise area. The admission prices were great to get in, especially considering we have 5 children. The kids had a great time, the Zoo seemed very clean and it wasn't very busy at all which was great. We went earlier in the day so that may have helped with the crowds. We paid the extra $1 to enter the butterfly exhibit, even though I was hesitant since we have 3 boys, but they had a great time in there as well and it was one of their favorites. The butterflies would land on you and they were everywhere! It was awesome. We would definitely go another time should we ever be in the area again.

Zoo Boise is nestled just outside the downtown core area of town, in a big beautiful park area, though the zoo itself is rather small, but has low admission price compared to many others I've been to, only $7 for an adult during my visit.
Lots of animals to see, and activities for all ages. It doesn't have the flow I've seen with other zoos, but wasn't too hard to get around, just had to backtrack here and there to get to other areas. They have a nice kids area, and a zoo farm to enjoy.

Boise zoo reminds me a lot of the Santa Barbara zoo in California. It is a small zoo with high quality animals and exhibits. It is also a very walkable zoo. We really enjoyed the butterfly exhibit that is there through September. We actually walked around a enclosed butterfly garden with 1800 butterflies from Costa Rica. I also thought that Wallabe walk-about was great. Eagles, komodo dragon, tigers etc... Fun and educational place to enjoy for 1/2 a day.

We live in Spokane and so are in a "zoo wasteland", but we wanted to bring our children to a zoo since they had never seen one before. A trip to Boise provided us with this opportunity. The Zoo Boise is small, and taking that into account, they probably do not have a very large budget. It was an ok experience. Some of the exhibits were interesting such as the wallaby walk, and the butterfly exhibit, but most had seen better days. We were sorry to see that the prairie dog exhibit was empty; it would have been nice if there had been an sign explaining why. There was a little educational talk with baby skunks that we were able to pet. It was a nice experience for our girls to see a zoo.
