“Excellent Presentation of a Very Interesting People & Culture”
Reviewed July 19, 2012

My wife and I went into this Museum with bare information and came out very impressed. Entrance fee for the both of us was $8 and the tour was self-guided and easy to follow and extremely informative and included a guided tour of the historic home next door to the Museum as well. Coming from a seven province area on the border of Spain and France these folks have been long positive contributors to America and the world while living pretty much under the radar as they are easily mis-thought of as either French or Spanish. Their positive contributions to Boise and Idaho are obvious and we went away with a very positive impression not only of Basque but of Boise as well.

“Interesting but not many objects”
Reviewed July 12, 2012

I did not know Boise had such a Basque presence, so I wanted to learn more. The museum was open for free for First Thursday (but I made a donation anyway). The exhibits are primarily large and well-designed posters with photos and graphics; there were very few actual objects. Basque immigration was covered, and there was an honest look at the ETA revolutionaries which is all a lot of people know about the Basque. Exhibits covered the tragic bombing of Guernica as well as the history of democracy in the Basque region. There is a hands-on exhibit on the language, and an extensive display about the Basque in Idaho. I enjoyed it, but there are not a whole lot of activities for children or those who are not history buffs.

“Great cultural visit”
Reviewed June 24, 2012

Its a good place to learn about the Basque in Idaho, the largest concentration outside of Spain! And since it is located on the "Basque Block" there is great food and drink to be had in the style of the old country

“Only Basque Museum in the US is in Boise”
Reviewed June 18, 2012

We did not have time to partake of the Museum, but
we will on next visit. Wendy, the Scottish curator was
very informative and gave us the run down on all
the festivities the Basque offer in Boise. We hope to
partake this summer.
