Best Western Blackfoot Inn
Ranked #1 of 3 Hotels in Blackfoot
Reviewed September 7, 2009

With very little choice for lodging in Blackfoot, the Best Western was expensive, but the rooms were spacious, clean, and well-supplied, and had a microfridge. The indoor pool was a comfortable temperature as was the hot tub, and there was a clean on-site laundry to wash up those wet swimsuits. There is the standard continental breakfast - cereal,
pastries - and a spacious room in which to eat.

I spent the night of july 13th the only good part was the young lady at the front desk. The room was somewhat clean, and was overpriced for what we got and when we stayed. It was over $100. In addition when we checked out we forgot our pillows. When I called back I was informed it was the managers policy to throw out all pillows left behind and that If they were really that important to me I wouldn't have forgotten them in the first place. Talk about lousy service from management!!! I even offered to pay for the shipping.

After trying to book a room in Idaho Falls for the night of Friday, June 8th, 2007 and finding the city sold out (due to a baseball tournament), my seventy-four year old mother and I had to settle on staying in Blackfoot at the Best Western Blackfoot Inn.

When I made the reservation, I booked a room with a refrigerator and microwave and requested a nice quiet room at the end of the hallway away from all the noise. We received Room 235 on the second (top) floor at the end of the hallway. It was very large, with two double beds, a clock radio, one regular chair and two comfy chairs, a microwave, a large (58 channel) television in a cabinet with remote, a coffeemaker, and an iron/ironing board, but no refrigerator.

The small bathroom, which looked like a six-year old had painted it, included the toilet and shower and one bottle of shampoo, while the sink was outside beside the door. There were all sorts of stains around the dirty bathroom fan, and there was an unknown substance above the bathroom door. How it got up there is anybody’s guess, but how the cleaning staff missed it is truly a mystery because it was just so noticeable!

Throughout the room, the wallpaper trim along the ceiling was peeling off and there was more than a few sections where the wallpaper was damaged. We also found that after dark the light by the bed did not work, so it was a very dark evening for us. Also, I found that the hallway smelled like bad body odor, which was kind of shocking.

One of the strangest things was the room had two garbage containers, but they were side by side, and had no plastic bag liners. I didn’t give it a second thought, until I overheard the lady across the hall talk about that to her husband when I met them in the hall. I laughed and said I had noticed the same thing! She said it was quite gross, and they had never stayed in a hotel that did not have a plastic bag liner in the garbage can. Anyway, later that night, there was a knock on my door and it was the lady with two plastic bag liners for me. She said that she had to get them from housekeeping, and I thought that was nice of her to think of me.

I later found out that this hotel was newly renovated in 2006, so what happened? Even normal wear and tear doesn’t add up to the room we stayed in. Before leaving in the morning, I made two lists (one for housekeeping and one for the manager) of things that needed to be done in the room before the next suckers, I mean customers, arrive in that room.

While the room was not frightfully awful, the fact that it was a Best Western and the price we paid (AAA rate of $87.47 U.S. Funds including tax), it should have been a whole lot better, especially since it was supposed to have been renovated in 2006! I am still trying to figure out what the object was above the bathroom door? Was it animal, vegetable, or mineral…

We recently stayed one night in Blackfoot for a wedding. The hotel was clean and comfortable enough, honestly, your typical Best Western. The front desk staff were friendly and let us check in early in the day. The room was clean, A/C was nice after a week sleeping in a camper, and the beds were comfortable. Free wifi internet was also a plus. The pool and hot tub are also adequate, although I smelled like chlorine for the rest of the day after soaking for 20 minutes, even after a shower! The breakfast was free and decent, not bad, just nothing special.

Overall, if you're looking for a clean, comfortable place to stay in Blackfoot, you can't go wrong with the Best Western.

I had the opportunity of staying overnight on August7th and I was very satisfied. For a rate of under $60.00 US I really got my money's worth.
This hotel is very well located and the staff is very friendly.
