All sites (electric/water only) seemed large enough for our 40fter and toad but some would have been difficult to level in. We took the only pull-thru on the lake, site #7, which we found was also the best site on the lake. A paved road with no sharp turns took us to the level, gravel site which was very and had plenty of room for our 4 slides. Each site has a large gravel porch area with cement picnic table, fire ring and lantern hook. The view of the lake was beautiful with lots of shade trees. The problem with the trees though is that they made it very difficult to get a clear satellite view. This will be the problem with any site as the whole park is well shaded. Bathrooms were clean in campground #1 where we stayed but campground #2 bathrooms was being renovated and they were using a portapotty and trailer shower. Our sprint phone hotspot and 3G worked fine.

Historic Fort Yargo blockhouse built in the 1790s is the focal point of this Georgia park, but it also has lovely paved walking and biking trails around the lake. The trails are marked every 50 feet or so with both printed and Braille descriptions of the local flora and fauna. There are many park benches along the trail, too. The park has a picnic area and 2 campgrounds which we did not use but which appear to be well- maintained.

I spontaneously ended up at Fort Yargo State Park today after I took my 6 year old Reese to the Mayfield Dairy Farm Ice Cream tour 11 miles up the road from this State Park. The one thing I liked about this park was there was a lot of areas to explore. The trails were windy and hilly. Since I visited on Friday March 23, 2013 is was still very much winter so the leaves were gone and you could see longer distances through the woods. This is definitely worth a mountain bike ride however I did not bring a bike this trip. Most of the trails winded along the lakeside. There is 12.5 miles Mountain Bike Trail for experienced riders which is the BLUE BLAZE (Loop Trail). There is a 1.2 mile (one way)Winder Connecting Trail that bikers and hikers use together GREEN BLAZE easy to moderate. There is a 7 mile Recreational Trail called Lake Loop Trail that hikers and bikers use YELLOW BLAZE easy to moderate. And there are Walking Trails that are paved called Bird Berry Nature Trail YELLOW BLAZE rated easy.

My daughters ran Cross Country at this park for years. We have camped there, but they allowed too many AC units with electricity and tent camping was not pleasant. It a very good place to spend an afternoon or day outdoors.
