Description: Pond View Fine Dining is like no other dining experience in the Waycross area; or to be more precise, like no other dining experience in the greater southeast Georgia area.We are a casual fine dining establishment which produces a high quality culinary product at reasonable prices. We pride ourselves in bringing in the best of everything & serving distinctive & desirable cuisine. We feature a unique atmosphere that is nice but not stuffy, classy but not class defined, elegant but not intimidating. Our goal is to give you a wonderful dining experience. We do not seek to get you in & get you out, but rather to have a paced & pleasant dining event that will last well beyond your last bite & keep you coming back for more. The owners, along with our head chef, work together to craft an exclusive menu which we constantly update. We also create weekly specials that add even more flavor to our everyday fair. And we have developed an exceptional wine list that will give you a taste of some of the more common grapes from around the world, but will also tempt you with a number of rare varietals that you may not have encountered anywhere else. And lest we forget, we have a wonderful Inn located just above restaurant, where you can stay in comfort & style with easy access to historic downtown Waycross.

A group of us Active Adult Senior Motorcyclists ended up at the Pond View as the destination of one of our "Mystery Trips," where only one couple knows where we're going. And what a surprise it was, right in the middle of historic downtown Waycross. Who would have guessed that such a neat place would exist right here, next to an old theater, with four guest rooms right upstairs (which some believe to be the remnants of a bordello) and an absolutely terrific dining room downstairs. First, the hotel. The rooms are just fine, nice and clean and comfortable, but given their origin, without windows. There isn't too much of a common area, which we always like for our snacking, drinking and partying activities, but it was okay. Without a kitchen or cooking area, as you'd find in most inns, B & Bs and hotels, breakfast is limited to bowls of fruit plus other items that you can heat in a microwave, which is provided along with a refrigerator, a coffee machine and a toaster. No big breakfast buffet, but adequate, and the neat old place works just fine. Next, the restaurant. Nice old historic atmosphere. Excellent service by the staff and the owner. Good drinks. An excellent selection, including the best pork chop on the planet. Who would have guessed that you'd find such a place in the middle of Waycross? Not us. So if you're visiting the area - and there are plenty of things to do around here, nature-wise - and if you're looking for a unique dining and possibly staying over experience, we highly recommend Pond View.

If you are tired of the restaurants that you can find in every city and want to have a nice meal in the area I would highly recommend Pond View. The dining experience is top notch and the food is excellent; however, be expected a little extra for the fine dinning experience. The prices are not as inflated as large city fine dining but you can expect to pay an average of 30 dollars a plate including drinks minus gratuity. The staff is polite and not overbearing allowing you to enjoy your meal and have a conversation with your dinner guest.

If you are anywhere near Waycross, GA Pond View is a great place to dine. The menu offers so many wonderful choices. Braised lamb shank and duck breast are two dishes that we highly recommend. Pond View has a nice wine list.

Took the family to the Okefenokee last week for a few days of sight seeing and fun. I ate there a couple of years ago. This time we decided to also stay in one of their rooms upstairs. The rooms are nice, simple set up of a bed, bath, TV, and desk (free WiFi). Coffee maker, fridge and microwave are in sitting area down the hall. Only 4 rooms, so can feel like you have the place to yourself - which we did one night as we had 2 rooms and others were empty. The second night, all 4 rooms were full. Beats staying at one of the chain motor-hotels.
The food was great. We started with mussels steamed in garlic and Guiness, warmed brie with fruit, and a tapas platter. For entrees we had duck breast, salmon, crab cakes, pasta with seafood. All of the dishes were well prepared, adequate size, seasoned appropiately. The duck and the crab cakes were the big hits. Nice wine selection and the owner / host knows his parings very well. Also has a basic bar, though they do have a nice selection of single malt scotches.
The price is above average for south Georgia, but the food is well above average for the region. It was nice staying there as we could eat and drink to our hearts content then go upstairs for bed, rather than having to drive. Also, we sent to kids to their room while we stayed in the restuarant for a night cap. We will be back again - maybe as a stop over on our next roadtrip to Florida.
