Owner description: Located in the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, the Okefenokee Swamp Park is a convenient point of entry and a magnificent show-window for the "Land of the Trembling Earth." The park's lily-decked water trails, with their miraculously reflective waters mirroring the overhanging beauty, lead to all points in this vast wilderness of islands, lakes, jungles, forest and prairies. Boat tours on original Indian waterways, wilderness walkways, Pioneer Island and native animals in their own habitat, all combine to weave a spell of pioneer American life. Headwaters of the Suwannee and St. Mary's Rivers, Okefenokee is a National Wildlife Refuge which covers nearly a half million acres.
Useful Information: Bathroom facilities, Activities for young children, Activities for older children, Food available for purchase

If you like wildlife, water, canoeing, camping and a warm climate, this is the place to go. We went tent camping and loved it, but just stop by Walmart and get some some dog food because if your cooking on an open fire for breakfast, the racoon's will jump up on the picnic table, un-wrap your aluminum foil that you have wrapped your pork-chops in and take them. We had so much fun in the Okefenokee, the canoe rentals are cheap the camping is cheap. If you like the outdoors this place is an AWESOME place to go, hope this is helpful

Second visit to this entrance. This time family with me. had to wait almost 20 minutes for another family to grace us with their presence as they were busy doing something else and forgot the departure time.
Young man who was our guide was knowledgeable and witty but for the price paid it was a complete washout. 35-40 min easing down a canal with no sightings of any animals 15 minutes stopped in the "lake" to (hopefully) see some of the swamp wildlife (1 4' gator) and back again.
Try the North entrance a bit south of Waycross if you plan on seeing the swamp. It's a better and more informative entry.

We live in North Florida and had visitors from France, so we decided to spend a day touring the Okefenokee. We arrived about noon and enjoyed a picnic lunch while waiting for the next boat departure. The tour was most enjoyable and enlightening - our guide knew everything about the flora, fauna and wildlife we were seeing. He was great! After the boat tour we took the little railroad trip and learned even more about life in the swamp. The railroad guide was also very informative. We probably will not go back in the near future - until our grandkids come down. This park is a must see for kids!
