If you want to dine out go to Athens for much better selection and better beer/drinks. We only went here once and had nothing good to say when the evening ended; others may differ, but we are spoiled from our Athens dining experiences. At the time, liquor was limited in Watkinsville, but that may have changed recently.

We dined at chos and hops while visiting in Watkinsville. Our appetizer was the salmon tacos (3), which were fresh and delicious. For an entree, we chose the Bourbon pecan glazed salmon with mashed sweet potatoes and grilled asparagus. This was a great combination of flavors and cooked perfectly. Our servers were top notch and attentive. Environment was clean and uncluttered.

We love this restaurant! Not only is it close to home, it is one of the best places to eat in Watkinsville AND Athens! The menu items are a good mixture of great burgers and delicious steaks and lighter entrees like excellent salmon! The homemade chips with blue cheese are so yummy! The brew selection is outstanding. The kids meal is even great in value and substance! The kids mac and cheese is not your typical box mac and cheese. The kids meal even includes an ice cream at the end! Everyone goes home happy whenever we eat at Chops! Prices mid-range.

We stopped in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon while we were in the area. The restaurant has nice decor and friendly waitstaff. The housemade chips with blue cheese that everyone who eats there were unexpected but tasted great. The soups were excellent, I got a chicken tortilla soup. I got the french dip sandwich and it was one of the best I've ever had. It wasn't the most traditional french dip since the meat was larger chunks of steak rather than thin shaved steak that I was used to but the steak was incredibly tender. The whole sandwich was served on garlic bread which was also a nice touch. We also got the southern charm sandwich which is fried green tomatoes, pimento cheese, and bacon. It was an unusual combination but tasted great. The restaurant was busy even early on for lunch so you may want to call ahead.

Nice decor, very pleasant staff and good food. Make reservations on a weekend. It was busy the night we were there, but we didn't feel rushed. Prices mid-range.
