We travel between Tampa and North Carolinaf frequently, and stay in Valdosta overnight on many of these trips. The town is full of chains and fast food eateries, so we were quite pleased last year when we found this locally owned restaurant. Every meal we have had there has been excellant. Monday night I had the skirt steak and my husband had the scallops. The portions were generous, but so savory that we consumed them completely. Each came with a salad and vegetables. They also have cocktails and a nice wine selection. Even on a rainy Monday night they were full, so we clearly aren't the only ones who have discovered them.

Enjoyed 306 North last night celebrating my wife's birthday. We have been enjoying 306 North and it's sister location, Covington's, for years. In addition, we have also used Covington's for catering at events at our home numerous times.

Back to dinner at 306 North. It was quite good. My wife had the shrimp and grits with a mixed green salad. The shrimp and grits was quite spicy and the serving was good sized: we brought some home. I had the skirt steak and a spinach salad. Both were quite good. Was surprised that the skirt steak was quite tender. I was also surprised at the generous portions: in addition to the steak there was mashed potatoes with succotash, grilled asparagus and onion rings. I could only eat about half and brought the rest home: I NEVER bring food home!!

We were in early having come directly from another event. Service was very good, but perhaps a bit "too busy" for our preferences: please do not stop by our table and interrupt our conversation three times to ask us how is our food and please do not change out the table candles while we are sitting there. Some of this may be a result of initially too few customers. Once more customers came in things settled down.

Overall, a very good experience and we will be back for dinner and lunch!

Wow, is all I can say after Friday evening at 306 North. The bacon appetizer was beyond my imagination in how great it was. Everyone who goes here should try this. The chef is certainly as talented as any big city chef and I would certainly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Valdosta. We always eat outside and we always leave very happy with our stomachs smiling!!!!!!!!!!!!!

306 North came with good recommendations and we were excited to try it out. The food is certainly very tasty, which is probably the reason for the good reviews. The wine list is also well balanced, with a good range of wines available by the glass. However, we were disappointed by a number of things. The hostess who seated us was hardly warm in the greeting, even though the restaurant was only half full on a Saturday evening. The atmosphere was undermined by the choice of music (The Scorpions was not our idea of romantic or relaxing). Moreover, the food, although mostly delicious, sometimes did not meet the menu description: the Caesar salad lacked croutons and the dressing was plain; the corn hash seemed to be just corn and pulses thrown together. Altogether, the menu looked a little on the worn side. This was a pity, because many of the flavours coming out of the kitchen suggested that the evening could have been so much more. (The tuna tataki appetizer was delicious.)
