The best thing about A-J's is the location. Sitting on the deck looking out on the water watching for porpoises is why I love A-J's. And you can show up looking less than your best after a long hot walk on the beach.
The table service is usually very good. The bartenders seem to be not too excited to be there or have customers. The front of the house staff seem to be young ladies who have had little to no training, but just go in with proper expectations and go with the flow. You are at the beach for cryin' out loud!
The food is good, not fantastic. I like the crab stew, the po boys and the boiled shrimp.
The tropical drinks are all good, and though I haven't had one, the bloody mary (loaded!) is on my list.
The have a very nice beer selection (45 or so choices) BUT, nothing on draft. A major downside. Why oh why?
Ya, it's a bit worn. The side area needs cleaning up and the inside seating area needs some updating.
But, relax and enjoy A-J's for what it is....local, quirky and fun.
