We are from Asheville, NC, which has some of the best restaurants in the South, and we were very surprided to find some ezxcellent eating places on Tybee Island.
During our last visit. we ate all our meals at the Dolphin Reef located in the Ocean Plaza Beach Resort. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes at reasonable prices, but the best part of eating there is the breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean! Watching the
sunrise each morning is a memorable experience.
On other trips to the Island we also ate at the Hunter House which has excellent food with friendly service in a relaxed atmosphere, and the prices were acceptable.
Another good dining establishment is Sundaes Cafe located in a small shopping strip as you enter the Island. We recommend it for lunch and dinner. The dinner menu offers dishes that yoiu would not expect to find at a restaurant located in a shopping strip. To us, the prices seemed a little high, but well worth it.
We were really surprised to find above average dining on this small island.
We intend to go back in the fall, and put our dieting "on hold" for at least a week!
