Description: The Crab Shack isn't just a restaurant, it's a destination! We seat more than 700 guests and offer both indoor and outdoor dining options. Both dining rooms and our outdoor dining deck offer picturesque views of Chimney Creek. Both the young and young-at-heart will enjoy our interactive, educational "Gator Lagoon" which is home to 78 baby alligators; our aviary which is home to more than a dozen rescued exotic birds, and our "Gift Shack". The Crab Shack offers traditional Low Country fare, including fresh streamed and boiled seafood and slow-cooked BBQ. We also have a kid's menu available with shrimp, mac 'n' cheese, hot dogs, and pizza. The Crab Shack is and always has been a family owned business, and recently began shipping our entrees in easy-to-cook meal kits through LoCo To Go. Stop by and experience all we have to offer for yourself!

This is a place you go for the overall experience not just the food. We had a blast feeding the alligators and watching the birds in the gift shop. We had a nice view of the water but had to wait a good hour and a half for our food. We had the captains sampler with every type of seafood you could think of. Crab legs were extra tasty.

Don’t let the rugged appearance fool you, The crab shack has some of the best seafood I’ve ever had. The garbage can in the middle of the table is the best idea ever, no easier way to peel and eat when you can throw it away right in front of you..

The food was awesome and lots of it! The buckets for two or 3 are great. Got to feed the gators! Got to sit out and look at the water, very pretty. Mixed drinks were great.

So we admit, we love the fried seafood. I also love the open grilled seafood but that good old deep fried greasy stuff is hard to say no to. I always order the "healthiee" grilled, husband always orders the deep fried then I snag a few of his fried pieces. Good place to eat. Yes can be pricey, portions are good. I've found most clean and well managed. Good staff. Have never been disappointed at a crab shack. Have a couple drinks. enjoy the view the food and life.

What is there not to do, or see, or eat here?!

We were passing through the area and were looking for a place to grab dinner. This was suggested by a few friends and I'm glad we went! I mean, it's a little kitschy, a little touristy, but it's delicious and fun and was a great break to stretch our legs and eat good fresh seafood.

Me and hubby both had the LowCountry Boil, which was peel and eat shrimp and crab with sides. The crab had a different seasoning on it than I'm used to in the midwest, but it was delicious, and the shrimp were boiled to perfection. There's no crazy hoity toity rules here. The tables have a trashcan with a hole in the middle to just through your shells and what nots into. And there's a roll of papertowels for you to use to your liking.

Most of it is outdoors, or in a screened in indoor section right on the bay. So the views are nice. It also has a boat dock if you need one. The alcohol selection was nice as well. We both had summery mixed drinks that were just as good and paired well with the food and atmosphere. There are a few cats roaming around, but they don't pay you any mind.

You can also by gator bait from the waitress or hostess and attach it to a fishing line to go feed the tiny gators. They're adorable and it was so worth the couple of bucks to do it! On the right side of the building there's a giftshop as you would expect with themed items and then there's also a room full of different exotic birds that they have rescued! It's a nice little island spot, not fancy, just laid back with good food, good drinks, good people, and good views.
