Description: The Crab Shack isn't just a restaurant, it's a destination! We seat more than 700 guests and offer both indoor and outdoor dining options. Both dining rooms and our outdoor dining deck offer picturesque views of Chimney Creek. Both the young and young-at-heart will enjoy our interactive, educational "Gator Lagoon" which is home to 78 baby alligators; our aviary which is home to more than a dozen rescued exotic birds, and our "Gift Shack". The Crab Shack offers traditional Low Country fare, including fresh streamed and boiled seafood and slow-cooked BBQ. We also have a kid's menu available with burgers, hot dogs, and pizza. The Crab Shack is and always has been a family owned business, and recently began shipping our entrees in ready-to-be-cooked kits through LoCo To Go. Stop by and experience all we have to offer for yourself!

“Go for the gator lagoon and ambiance, not for the food”
Reviewed June 27, 2014

We visited this restaurant twice during our visit to Tybee. We went to early dinners since we have young children. The kids LOVED the gator lagoon, you can buy gator food and feed them from a pole and string for a $2 or $3. There is also a small exotic bird sanctuary.

It was amazing how you could sit outside in 90 degree weather and still feel cool and comfortable. The outdoor seating is shaded and has misty fans.

They are proud that they do not fry any of their food, but the food is just not that good. Everything is kind of water down, bland and expensive.

“Fun place to eat, especially great for lunch!”
Reviewed June 27, 2014

We decided to go here for lunch because we had a group of six and the prices were more reasonable for lunch. The Deviled Crab and Clam Chowder were an excellent choice featuring a large serving of crab and a nice cup of flavorful chowder. The Shrimp Salad Sandwich with a cup of Crab Stew was the best Shrimp Salad I have ever eaten. Just the right amount of seasoning and dressing, and really delicious. The Crab Stew was very good, as well. The Brunswick Stew was an excellent choice if you are not a lover of seafood, as it is meaty, different and flavorful. Great service, and loved the fact that there are trash cans below the hole in the center of the table so you can clear the table quite easily. Nice view, and the alligators and birds are interesting to see.

“Excellent seafood, long wait. ”
Reviewed June 27, 2014 via mobile

Food was fabulous for the adults. Kids menu is lacking and will not be enough for their bellies after a day at the beach. We hard a party of 6, and it poured rain, so our wait was over an hour.

“Cool place for kids--food so so”
Reviewed June 27, 2014

A friend had recommended that we eat here when visiting Tybee. The restaurant had a cool setting that kids enjoy. It was outdoors with live gators and some random cats walking around. We saw a dolphin jumping in the water while we were waiting for our food. The servers were friendly and helpful. The worst thing about the place is the food. It wasn't bad--just mediocre...

“Over-Hyped, Over-Priced, Under-Staffed”
Reviewed June 27, 2014

Personally I am not a seafood person, but the family is. We had called to see if reservations were needed and were told that they do not take reservations but that they can seat 600 people. When we arrived and put our name in for seating we were told that it would be 45 minutes. There were entire sections of the restaurant that were not being utilized, obviously due to a lack of servers. After we were seated it took ten minutes for our waiter to arrive, then ten more minutes for our drinks to appear. Our appetizers arrive only minutes before our meals, which was about twenty minutes after we ordered them, and after our waiter came out to tell us that one of of our appetizer choices was no longer available. I ordered the pulled pork platter. The pork was not pulled but shredded it looked more like Hash, and had no real taste to it. The seafood seemed to be OK, but my nephew was sick the next day, and he said he never had problems with seafood before. As the title says it all, I do not recommend the Crab Shack in Tybee.
