Description: The Crab Shack isn't just a restaurant, it's a destination! We seat more than 700 guests and offer both indoor and outdoor dining options. Both dining rooms and our outdoor dining deck offer picturesque views of Chimney Creek. Both the young and young-at-heart will enjoy our interactive, educational "Gator Lagoon" which is home to 78 baby alligators; our aviary which is home to more than a dozen rescued exotic birds, and our "Gift Shack". The Crab Shack offers traditional Low Country fare, including fresh streamed and boiled seafood and slow-cooked BBQ. We also have a kid's menu available with burgers, hot dogs, and pizza. The Crab Shack is and always has been a family owned business, and recently began shipping our entrees in ready-to-be-cooked kits through LoCo To Go. Stop by and experience all we have to offer for yourself!

My husband and I arrived in Tybee Island this past weekend and decided to go to The Crab Shack since we'd heard it was really good and meant to go there the last time we were in town. We got there at 2:30 for lunch and after finally finding our way in ( there are numerous entrances) we were seated at a table overlooking the gator enclosure. This restaurant is very unique with lots of interesting things to look at including a sweet little Cat Shack and a bird room off the gift shop. Anyway, back to the food. We ordered deviled crab and peel and eat shrimp with potatoes and cole slaw. My husband also ordered a cup of chowder ( it was delicious but sooo small it was ridiculous!) The shrimp were very good and we liked the sauce they serve with them.. The deviled crab was fishy and didn't have a lot of taste. The potatoes were very plain with no butter or seasoning of any kind. The cole slaw had too much vinegar. We also ordered two Landshark beers and they were good and cold. I hated the fact that the food is served on thin paper plates with plastic cutlery, a meal that costs 13 bucks should at least be on a real plate! I didn't like that they had no fried food, not even French fries. The service was so average that I don't even remember her name. They could use some lessons in how to treat customers but I can see why people like it due to the atmosphere of the place. We won't eat there again.

Our first encounter was 11 yrs ago which sent us on a mission to make our own low country boil.We were so excited to be back in the area but what a disappointment! First they sat us by the door leading to the outside bathroom, than our server switched us to Miss nasty personality herself.Could not have cared and avoided us.Our food was served from a guy in the back.As stated in other reviews it was wet.We ordered 2 different platters and found that the shrimp was more plentiful .We also got 1/2 oysters and brunswick stew with 2 ice teas and our bill was $63 which is ok if u get a good meal. The only time our server was at our table is when she saw us pull our money out.I had left the table when he paid and he gave her a $10.00 tip! I saw her staring when we left.Either she was in shock or she thought she deserved more..Not worth the price or time.

Our family went to the Crab Shack last Sunday, March 2nd. We sat outside, big fans blowing to keep the flying bugs away! The tables have boxes of crackers, sauces, rolls of paper towels and holes for your garbage! There is inside seating as well. The Crab Shack is rustic with that island feel! The seafood was delicious...our table had oysters, crab legs and shrimp. Many of us had chowders of different varieties. The blue crab chowder was the best. The pulled pork and chicken was good too. Definitely worth the short trip, about 20 minutes, from Savannah!

We were at Tybee Island for five weeks and everyone kept saying you have to go to The Crab Shack. Well, our last week we finally went. It was an experience but not the best food we had on our visit to Tybee. For the price, we were a little disappointed. Probably will not return on our next trip.

As islanders we rarely eat here. However, we do often take our visitors here, especially if they have kids. For a good low-country boil this is a good option. Service is usually quite good and always friendly. Beer is mostly cold. Key Lime Pie is above average. Good place for adults with kids. Alligators are real! Laid back and you can eat in your bare feet - well, with sandals at least. Can be loud. It is always worth one trip to experience the uniqueness.
