My husband and I arrived in Tybee Island this past weekend and decided to go to The Crab Shack since we'd heard it was really good and meant to go there the last time we were in town. We got there at 2:30 for lunch and after finally finding our way in ( there are numerous entrances) we were seated at a table overlooking the gator enclosure. This restaurant is very unique with lots of interesting things to look at including a sweet little Cat Shack and a bird room off the gift shop. Anyway, back to the food. We ordered deviled crab and peel and eat shrimp with potatoes and cole slaw. My husband also ordered a cup of chowder ( it was delicious but sooo small it was ridiculous!) The shrimp were very good and we liked the sauce they serve with them.. The deviled crab was fishy and didn't have a lot of taste. The potatoes were very plain with no butter or seasoning of any kind. The cole slaw had too much vinegar. We also ordered two Landshark beers and they were good and cold. I hated the fact that the food is served on thin paper plates with plastic cutlery, a meal that costs 13 bucks should at least be on a real plate! I didn't like that they had no fried food, not even French fries. The service was so average that I don't even remember her name. They could use some lessons in how to treat customers but I can see why people like it due to the atmosphere of the place. We won't eat there again.
