Tybee Island Inn
Ranked #4 of 8 Tybee Island B&B and Inns

The management here seems nice enough, and the inn looked all right. However, we booked the condo ("Oceanview," though you'd have to crane your neck to see it, a block from the beach) that the inn also rents out. No photos on the site, and if we had seen them, we would have gone elsewhere. It's got a rusty, peeling exterior, but the appearance of the place (the inside looks a bit better) isn't the biggest problem. First off was the fact that the parking spot under the condo was blocked every time we tried to park there -- we had to hunt down who was blocking our space in the surrounding condos, and ask them to move. Even then, it was a tricky, two-person maneuver to get our full-size car into the small, tight spot. (If you know Tybee, you know you've got to have parking there.) Next was the musty smell that greeted us on entering the condo. Though the condo looked ... well, it looked very generic, but OK -- but the beds felt like lumpy cardboard. We might have shrugged all that off, but the last time we had to (again) hunt down the people who were blocking our space, the guilty parties were belligerent, rude, and probably drunk. It was a very unpleasant process to get them to move. The whole place just creeped us out, and about the time I realized I didn't want to sleep there, we both decided to leave. I called the innkeeper, who was shocked, claimed they hadn't had a complaint in two years (sure enough, there's a journal there full of praise from former tenants), but told us where to leave the key. That was all -- and we were glad to go. I don't like to make complaints, but I wish someone had written a warning like this one before we booked here. This might work well for a family with kids, or people with a small car, or if you happen to visit when you don't have a series of people who ignore the clearly posted signs about the parking, as we did, but it's not for people looking for a quiet, pleasant, uncomplicated getaway.

This was the first trip for mother daughter together time and our trip to Tybee Island was wonderful. We were able to spend three nights at the Inn. The Tybee Island Inn was so lovely that it was hard to drag ourselves away from this tranquill setting. Our room, the Savannah Beach, has a comfortable king size bed, plenty of storage for your clothing, clean and has its own bathroom..

If you like sitting outside you have access to two large porches with one looking onto a beautiful garden.

The staff was very friendly and helpfull. As we had never been to Tybee Island before they pointed us to local areas of interest and local residents favorite resturants. They did a great job of preparing breakfast and making everyone feel at home. They even had home made cookies for us in the evenings. There is a refigerator for guest to use and coffee and tea when you like.

Overall I would say this is probably the best vacation I have been on in awhile. It was what a vacation should be.........relaxing.

I give this wonderful place to vacation 4/5 ONLY because they did not have WiFi. For those who say "your on vacation you do not need the interent" I say I wanted to send pictures to family and friends! Other than that ONE thing this place absolutely rocks! The A/C was great in the very humid weather, but hey its the beach and its hot and humid. The service from the front desk to the cleanup crew was superb. The cabin was very clean and commodities were all provided. A BIG plus was that the Jacuzzi was very clean and not foamy like most other Jacuzzis.

We contacted Tybee Island Inn to help with our daughter's beach wedding. To our amazement, they were able to help us pull a wedding together in 3 weeks AND they did it with a cheerful and willing attitude. Some of our family stayed at the inn and some stayed in one of the cottages. Our experience was absolutely delightful. The best vacation we've had in a long while. Their hospitality was second to none and we can't wait to go back to visit. When you're visiting the Tybee Island Inn, you're family.

Great stay. Loved the large tub in the captains suite. It was our 20th anniversary. Tybee island is a quiet, calm place, 30 min from savannah. Enjoyed both. Everyone is SO friendly and helpful at Tybee island inn. I loved the breakfasts. Soft, romantic music in the background. Very clean, comfortable and quiet. WOuld stay there again

The Inn's location is great, only a short walk to the beach and the Tybee Island lighthouse as well as a couple of good places to eat. The history behind it's location and previous function at Fort Screven is fascinating. Also, having tour bus shuttle service available for pickup at the Inn was a plus. However, the Inn did not have the charm of those we have stayed in with resident-owners and we were a little disappointed with breakfast as compared to other B&B's we've been to. An upgrade to the mattresses would help as well.
