“on second thought...”
Reviewed July 31, 2014

Returned to Vickis on Tybee, we were craving a good steak. This was our fourth or fifth time eating here since moving to Tybee about 18 months ago. We are walking distance, so we would really like to love the place. The first few times were disappointing for various reasons such as: A la carte menu drove the prices above what the quality of the meal warranted. No refills on coffee or soda (have read they charge for water, not sure if that is the case). Very measly side salad. Wait staff was friendly but every time we go there it seems it is always the servers first day. So many posted rules made us feel we were in the principals office not out to eat. Since we want to love the place, we gave it another try in June, were happy to find a new menu with a pretty diverse selection. We had burgers that were good and although the server was new, the service was pretty good. In a continuing effort to love the place, we decided to return and try the steak. Noticed some new rules posted at the door regarding required reservations for large parties despite the dining room being fairly empty. Our server told us it was her first night (again). We inquired about the market price of the steaks and were told the chef would only cook to a temperature of medium at most. I was bothered by this as I was the one to eat the steak, not the chef. If the chef is worried about complaints regarding overcooked steak, they could recommend a temperature of medium, but to refuse to cook to order is ridiculous. Since I eat my steak medium well, I decided to order the burger instead to be safe. (ironically, burgers are only available well done). The burger was again good, but it was the restaurants loss, instead of a $25.00 steak my husband I ordered an $8.00 burger. Might return in the future if we are craving a burger, knowing not to expect anything spectacular.

“Friendly service, food not bad..”

Our waitress was nice. The food was decent, but nothing to brag about or go back for. We live and learn.

“Don't waste your time and money, here.”
Reviewed July 21, 2014

Thought I would burn this place with a review but found I am not the only person who felt this place is overpriced and underserves its patrons. No seating on the patio. No water by the glass offered. Hush puppies came out after the main course was served. Servers threw the orders on the table and ran away. Waitress didn't even look at our grandson when she was told it was his 13th birthday. She looked at me and walked away. I could not get out of there fast enough. Have no idea how this place remains in business. Maybe it is because unsuspecting tourists come in hoping for a nice dinner and won't be back, anyway.

“Worst food on our vacation”
Reviewed July 18, 2014

Awful. Awful. Awful. Charge for a glass of water. Should have left at that point. Ordered grilled shrimp came out with so much pepper it was inedible. When we sent it back, we asked for a box for our other food. We just wanted to leave. 10 minutes later still no box. The tAble beside us asked for the manager to complain about their steak being so fatty and filled with gristle Manager said sorry thats how it comes. They told her they wpuld not be back. We then spoke to teenager who said we are making more shrimp. Told her we didn't want it...please take it off our bill and bring boxes for our other food. She said they do not refund. Told her we do not want it take it off pur bill. She actually argued with us that we had waited too long to send it back. What the heck??? She told us the waitress would have to pay because they will not refund it. Told her fine just bring us a box for the rest. Terrible service. Terrible food. No free refills on soda or coffee. A $2.00 charge for water. I do not recommend!

“Not the best on Tybee”
Reviewed July 17, 2014

Vicki's was the last restaurant we was going to try on our trip to Tybee. We should have thought second about it when we was told that there was a charge for all refills of coke and tea. We ordered low country boil for 4 people sausage, corn and potatoes was good but the shrimp was over cooked and hard. Ordered a frozen margarita which was about the worst one that I have ever had, margarita straight on bottom with crushed ice on top.Wish I had read the other reviews before trying this establishment out, we will never go there again.
