“The guns go boom!”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

We made it in time to see the cannon firing demonstration. They fired a rifle cannon and a smooth bore cannon. We got to take pictures with the firing crew. We were quick to walk around the Fort due to the cold chill and high wind in the area that day.
Great for the civil war and military history fan.

“Such an interesting piece of history”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

Very interesting place to visit and so much history to absorb. The views from the top of the monument are beautiful....all the surrounding waters and lighthouses. I would definitely recommend visiting Fort Pulaski if you are in the Savannah, GA area.

“Zombie Lovers Welcom”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

Second time visiting Fort Pulaski. It is a nice place to visit with interesting history and not near as crowded as the scene in downtown Savannah. The fort did have an interactive presentation and musket firing demo along with a guided tour. It was well done and the tour guide was very knowledgeable.

I had to go back after seeing the move Abraham Lincoln vs Zombies. A lot of the movie was filmed in and around the fort.

It is always fun to go somewhere that you have seen in the movies or to see a movie that has scenes in it where you can go, "Hey, I've been there!"

The fort is small, so it will take you maybe two hours or less to take the tour and do some investigating around the ramparts.

“Fort Pulaski”
Reviewed February 16, 2013

Fort Pulaski was captured by the union forces early in the several war. It overlooks the Savannah river and thusly robbed the confederates of Savannah as a port. The union used it to house confederate officers who were prisons of war. Those who have visited Fort Jefferson in the Dry Tortugas will recognize many of the same features. Well worth a drive out from Savannah for a change of scenery, and then head right over to the Crab Shack on Tybee Island, about 10 minutes a way.

“Beautiful Day”
Reviewed February 10, 2013 via mobile

What a way to spend a couple of hours learning about some history. The speakers were very friendly and had loads of information to share! It was such a beautiful day out, we decided to go to the light house as well, a great walk.
