Owner description: Fort Pulaski National Monument has one of the best preserved nineteenth century masonry fortifications in the United States. It was also the site of a major artillery duel during the Civil War that saw the first major use of rifled artillery in battle. You can tour the fortress, see living historians bringing the past to life, or watch an artillery demonstration that really immerses visitors with the sights and sounds of conflict. The monument however, is more than just a fort. We have over 5000 acres of pristine saltwater marsh, one of the largest concentrations of marsh along the coast of Georgia. Combine that with miles of trails and you have a great way to get away from our cultural history and surround yourself with the natural beauty of Cockspur Island, the heart of the monument.

“Perfect afternoon!”
Reviewed February 3, 2013 via mobile

I was so pleasantly surprised at how interesting this was! It took close to 2 hours, cheap, lots to see, great place to goof around and take some pics. My husband and I went and recommend it to anyone, even kids. I also highly suggest you watch the video inside before the tour bc it had so much good and interesting history information. We didn't do a guided tour bc we rather go at our own pace. Again had a great time!

“Great walk & history”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

The national park is well maintained. The views are beautiful & the site is fun to walk with lots of displaces. The cannon demonstration is interesting.
In this time point in our history (the Civil War) we first see how new technology can & did change our future. Guess what that was...go there & discover it.

“History galore”

A wonderful example of the rich history that awaits those who visit the GA coast. Check for calendar when there will be Civil War reenactments. Kids like this.

We enjoyed the fort. The preservation is great, the outing from the city was nice. The price is very reasonable for all that they do. Take the tour

“a different kind of fort”
Reviewed January 29, 2013

Historic Island, lots of walking if you like. The fort is in great shape. Took 18 years to construct and you can see why. Nice tours, musket firing demonstration, good historic video presentation.
