“Really good shrimp and cold local beer!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 24, 2013

Gerald is a nice guy! Welcoming and warm, but that's NOT what is important. First let me say, we visit Tybee 3 or 4 times a year and the food there is hit and miss. Sometimes we love AJ's, sometimes it's North Beach Grill, we've had good meals at Stingray's, Coco's, and the Breakfast Club. But ... it's never consistent. Our most recent 3 day trip included no less than 3 visits to Gerald's. The shrimp was served hot and tasty. The local beer was good and cold. BBQ was wasn't as good as shrimp; and the sauces (cocktail and BBQ) could offer more. But, the vibe is right and the fresh shrimp couldn't be better. Give it a try!

“Best Friend Shrimp Ever”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2013

Was on Tybee Island and looked at Trip Advisor for lunch recommendations. We had driven right by this place when we came to the island. So glad we knew to go back. Most fried shrimp is very greasy and heavy on breading, this had just a light breading and was perfect. Ribs were also good. Side dishes are nothing special. Just get lots of the shrimp. Was also fun to look at all the signs and quotes around the place.

“Excellent food plus all locally sources!”

Gerald's is a charming roadside shack but don't be fooled by the casual rustic appearance. They serve up seriously tasty shrimp, ribs and more. I had the fried shrimp and pork ribs with hush puppies, cucumber salad and corn on the cob. Yum!

“Not your "typical" fried shrimp”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2013

First of all, the seating is outdoors and the atmosphere is comfortable and easy. There are plenty of things to look at as you sit and enjoy your tablemates and the weather. The menu is small, but big on flavor. When I see fried shrimp on a menu I think heavy batter and grease, and shrimp so overcooked that you can't event taste it. What a pleasant surprise it was when I ordered the shrimp po'boy! The batter was so light, I can only describe it as a light tempura. And the shrimp...oh my my! The shrimp was sweet and delicious. All of this was washed down with a tasty sweet tea.

“Road side Shrimp/Barbecue shack”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 10, 2013

Road side beach shack as you cross the bridge to Tybee Island. We enjoyed the beer, local shrimp and pork barbecue. The owner Gerald is a character very friendly and well worth listening to him tell stories.
