We ate at Gerald's on a windy Sunday afternoon, and had the shrimp dinners with cucumber salad and fried okra. It reminded me of growing up on the coast as a child. After we ate, we spent over an hour talking with Gerald and his staff at the bar. Gerald made us feel as if we were the only people at the restaurant and humoured us with several stories about his past. I would whole heartedly recommend eating here whenever you are I'm the Savannah, Ga area.

The best restaurant on Tybee isn't even a restaurant, it's a meals on wheels chuckwagon surrounded by a roofed deck with no windows and no doors, just open air. Most people miss Gerald's because it's at the top of the strip as soon as you've entered Tybee's main drag, and the feeling is there are better places closer to the village; there aren't. Gerald-- one of the few restaurateurs actually born and raised in Savannah-- specializes in barbecue pork and fried local shrimp, and his kitchen sink stew is a new favorite. There isn't a better meal within 20 miles of Tybee for the price, and what this roadside attraction lacks in creature comfort it more than makes up for in attitude (upbeat) and quality (top shelf). For those who've been before, please be advised that Gerald has added a new bar and now pours wine and beer. And for those who want to throw a party Gerald-style, he has the best catering outfit in Savannah (the top choice of visiting film crews).

A friend recommended Gerald's to us. Shrimp were delicious each time we went. The bbq was pretty good too. Really enjoy the laid back atmosphere. Hope we can head back down soon.

This unique little spot on the side of the road is the type place we enjoy finding while on road trips. It's open air dining, food prepared and served out of a vendor trailer set-up in back. Tables were all very clean as was the food trailer. Saw great reviews on tripadvisor so gave it a try and we totally enjoyed our lunch. On a Friday mid-afternoon in off season we had the place to ourselves. The BBQ smelled great (cooked out back) but we love shrimp and it was a late lunch, so we opted for the shrimp po-boys with a shared side of jalapeno hush puppies. Both shrimp and hush puppies were cooked while we waited so they were hot and fresh - served within 10 minutes of ordering. The shrimp were perfect, the bread was just so-so and the slaw on the sandwich added a nice taste & crunch. The hush puppies were a very tasty little side. If you enjoy road side stands, stop in and check these guys out. The gentleman taking our order was very friendly and Gerald walked-up while we were enjoying our lunch to make sure everything was good...and it was just that - very good. If we're ever back in the area, we WILL stop again.
